on tap on Cologne airport - Clear yellow with a average bubbly white head. malty nose. Aroma is very crisp malty. Spectacular carbonation, but low intensity, with medium body. Flavour is sweet, malty with a dry finish. Heavier than a normal Kölsch but I like it this way.

Swing-top. Clear Golden pour with a rocky, creamy beige head. Nose is mineral water with light pale malt, and small mix of celery and spicy hops. Great malty flavor with a sharp, lightly acidic taste of bread. Water profile, as mentioned, adds significant character and there’s a good quenching quality added by the hops. Lightly sweet with a very restrained fruit accent. Medium body. Very pleasant.

tap at the brewery, pours a bright yellow, with head, grainy but faint, kind of a harshness but nothing to bad, overall ok

Nice but a little graspy as all the Kölsch in Köln. Refreshing and nice foam. Clear golden shape and nice malty aromas.

On tap at the Brauhaus. Golden with a lasting white head. Aroma of malt and fruit with a hint of white wine. Sweetish malty flavour with a fruity hint. A bit bland

Hier scheiden sich die Geister: es es nun gut oder nicht. Also ich bekomme regelmäßig Kopfschmerzen danach.

Test vom 25.11.2006, Gebinde: Glasflasche

33cl bottle from Bierzwerg. Poured clear golden with an off-white head. Aroma is grainy malty, slightly sweet. Flavor is grainy malt with some herbal notes. Thin, but quite drinkable still

My Bottom Line :
Judiciously honeyed cereals are spiked with herbal hops and their minty hints in this gentle, balanced Kölsch.

Further Personal Perceptions :
-A creamy tuft of foam sits atop the clear golden.
-The nose is pleasant but is not multifaceted like the flavor profile.
-The soft prickling of carbonation is perfect for the tiny pockets of barley sugar.
-Herbal hops provide mild bitterness, just enough to offset the subtle honeyed sweetness.
-Light pear esters appear upon warming.
-This is not watery like some of the commercial examples.

At the brewery restaurant in the altstadt.
