Gregis (911), Overland Park, Kansas, USA May 3, 2008 Bottle courtesy of tjthresh. Thanks for the bottle, Tom! Pours a clear light copper with a dense, off-white, meringue-like head that leaves sticky lace in its wake. The nose is a hodgepodge blend of frutiy and floral notes: old apples and light pine with a clean, pale malt backing. It certainly doesn’t smell like your typical APA that’s been hopped with Cascades. Light to medium-bodied and soft with a lightly dry and mildly bitter finish. The flavor follows the nose: pale malt, apples and a lightly floral bitter finish. This one is interesting but not particularly well integrated. If there are Cascades in this beer there must not be very much, because I’m not tasting them. What is in there isn’t blowing me away, but I’m glad to have gotten the chance to try an OK beer.
kramer (1868), sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 3, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a mostly clear copper body with a one finger fizzy beige head. Somewhat of a husky and grainy malt nose with just a little floral hoppiness. The flavor is pretty light on the bitterness with a stale, husky cereal grain malt base. Pretty thin on the flavor overall. Short finish with just a very slight hoppy ending. Mouthfeel is light bodied with fizzy prickly active carbonation. Overall, this was just a pretty forgettable APA. Darkover (1201), Columbus, Ohio, USA Aug 16, 2008 Clear orange color with a big beige head. Aroma of caramel malt and a little citrus hops. Flavor is very malty with grain, caramel and mild hops. Ughsmash (2996), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jun 22, 2008 Bottled. Poured clear, brilliant lighter orange with a creamy, well-retained cap of off-white head. The aroma picked up dry floral and grassy hops over pale malts and lighter fruit.. not poor components, but it just didn’t pop. The flavor had tacky caramel and bready malts at the core with with light grassy bitterness surrounding.. sticky, almost cardboardey finish. Lighter-bodied and dry on the palate with a poor flow to it. This just wasn’t very good. ThunderChicken (10), Texas, USA Jun 3, 2008 A nice APA. Citrus and floral hop aroma. Nice malt sweetness balanced with bitterness. Very drinkable. tytoanderso (1183), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA May 19, 2008 12oz bottle. Virtually no aroma to speak of. Struggling mightily to find some earthy hops and dry, crackered and grainy malt. Pours full, bright copper with a nice white head leaving light spotty lacing. Flavor is bland and consists of watery grain and flavorless dry hops. Tree bark and earth as well. Thin to medium bodied with an abrupt watery finish.
