jgentgesdo (544), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Nov 7, 2007 Pours translucent medium yellow with a medium off-white head. Nose is rather sharp malts, spicy yeast notes, and some floral hops. Flavor is balanced towards malt, nice citrus notes in the middle, with hops and spicy yeast evident towards the end of the drink. Some alcohol evident. Slightly oily mouthfeel. Absolutely the best offering yet from Krebs.
KAggie97 (1919), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA Sep 23, 2008 Bottle. <br /> Pours a beautiful, deep amber with a head of white that leaves intricate lacing around the glass. Aroma is bit off, with a weird hint of tangerine nut wine- or something like that. Old-tasting blend of musty air, wood, and old bourbon with Sprite. Average mouthfeel. Not bad, but I don’t think I’ll drink more of this. JMFG (1173), Florida, USA Sep 15, 2008 Courtesy TheCheeseMan. Hazy copper-orange, thin off-white head. Moderate sweet Belgain ale aroma, slight caramel notes. Sweet grain taste, mild caramel, light spice. Decent, no real distinct flavors aside from malt sweetness. jgb9348 (1848), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA Aug 11, 2008 Hazy golden coloured body with a thinnish slightly off-white head. Aroma of grass, fresh malt and a good dose of hops. Medium-bodied; Sharp fresh grassy hops taste strong along with some malt and a bit of perfumey scents. Aftertaste shows a bit more complexity with coriander seed and a bit of spice, but mostly malt. Overall, a good strong flavoured beer that shows well, especially in the summer! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Sam’s Warehouse Liquor in Oklahoma City, OK on 13-February-2008, drunk after my first round of golf ever on 07-August-2008. Cornfield (4343), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA May 3, 2008 Having had a few Krebs’ beers (including Texas Sux), this one surprised me. Not great, but nice. It had a hazy amber body with a quickly fading, slender head. The aroma was yeasty, had some toffee, a quiet spiciness, citrus fruit, and dried grasses. The is a bit sweeter than the nose promised, seems like a dollop of honey was added, and there’s a light sourness near the finish. Decent. Dark Lord Day 2008 at Three Floyds, Munster, IN, 4/26/2008.
patrick767 (1449), fort wayne, Indiana, USA Apr 27, 2008 sample at DLD - the bottle says Kreb’s Biere de Garde. It pours hazy light amber with a yeasty, malty aroma. The flavor is of caramel malt and has some good fruit accents. Yeasty and sweet, it’s medium bodied and easy drinking. While not outstanding, it’s enjoyable. Thanks to whoever brought this rare brew.
