deep amber pour with a 1 finger cream head. sweet malts and a slight hop scent underneath. light on the palate and the malts are a very strange flavor. kind of sweet and spicy that throws this beer off for me.

bottle. poured a clear amber with a red hue and a thick beige head that didnt last to long. aroma had some citrus with a little caramel. small hint of hops as well. the flavor was a bit watery picking up some citrus and bitterness from the hops. maybe i chilled this one to long???

THOUGHTS: I hadn’t had this one in years. The last tim I did, it seemed like an extreme beer. Now I like it more than I did then, but it seems really bland compared to most of the beers I drink now. But I am surprised this doesn’t have a bigger following. It’s a lot better than Sam Adam’s Boston Lager and Yuengling without being too extreme for the masses. If it had better marketing this beer could be huge. TECHNICAL: Bottle Poured a clear, medium reddish brown with a small, fizzy, off-white head that mostly diminished. The aroma was moderate to heavy dark bread, burnt, nutty and caramel malts and light hops. The initial flavor was light to moderately sweet and lightly acidic; while the finish was moderate to heavily sweet, lightly acidic and moderately better and just slightly sour with an average duration. There was great caramel, burnt and nutty malt, but then the flavor drops off a bit with only a little burnt flavor and some hops. The light to medium body had very fizzy carbonation and a metallic and very light astringent finish.

pours brown, with almost no head, has almost no aroma, almost no flavor but a slight hint of hops and malt, but there are no offensive flavors, definately would never buy this again, very disapointed

Clear amber, fading head. Mostly malty sweetness, but some hops, and some fruitiness. Body is light-to-medium with lots of small bubble carbonation. Deserves respect for gutting it out through the pre-micro boom.

seems like more of an amber ale if you ask me... pours very dark amber with ruby highlights. big off white head. aroma is some malt sweetness with some character malt coming into play. flavor is nicely balanced with spicy hops and sweet malts. medium bodied. an alright beer.
