Celebrated as America’s Original Brown Ale, Wicked Ale’s inviting ruby-brown color, distinctive malts and aromatic Brewers Gold hops will stir up a devilish urge to let loose.

A brown pour without much of a nose. A flavor that is rich in maltiness and has an odd bitter at the end. I don’t think it is hops it is just odd. Not a standout but a decent beer. A drinkable offering.

bottle. boo and hiss. One not even worth talking about. Anoying cheapness to the flavor. Unfortunately I bought a 6 pack. It was hard to finish.

12 oz bottle. Pours reddish copper brown with thin beige head. The aroma is toasty with a little bit of caramel, random spices, and some plastic. The flavor is light caramel and toast, then some zest and grass. The finish is slightly dry and toasty, but a hint of that plastic kicks back in. Definitely not superior, but decent, considering.

I’ve been putting off trying this beer for a long time and for good reason. After reading about Pete’ startup in all the homebrewing books I’m sorely disappointed. The only goodf thing about this beer is the appearance. It smells like berries and sourness and tastes about the same. It seems like someone cut what was once a decent brown ale with 50 percent water and then brewed it in dirty fermenters.

10/20/06: Faint nutty aroma decent sweetness. Good medium brown pour big head that settled down, little lacing. Easy on the palate, needs to be thicker. Flavor is so-so, slight malty sweetness a touch of hops but very one dimensional. This beer used to be much better, too bad they dumbed down the recipe in order to appeal to the masses.

Bottle from Hy-Vee poured into an english pint - Pours a red amber with a 1 finger off-white head. Aroma smells of nuts, cardboard, and wheat bread. Basic taste of nuts and malt with a little nutty bitterness in the aftertaste. Watery body and decent carbonation. Watery and basic is not my definition of "wicked". I would take an Abita Turbodog over this for an American Brown any day.

Bottle. Pours a nice reddish brown. Taste is a malt, with a hint of hop. Nothing out of the ordinary, but certainly one of the first "better" US beers I had back in the day.

Reddish brown pour and virtually no head. Tates is some malt and slightly sweet witha bit of hoppy tang. A good refreshing beer but nothing outstanding. If I can find a 6-pack for a decent price I could see drinking it a lot, but it remains to be seen if I can find it around here.
