I wish it tasted as good as it looked. Good old fashioned foamy head. Nice golden in color. But taste did not distinguish itself from any other beer of it’s style. It was a decent beer, but I don’t think I will be buying in the future.
3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 runaway (24) - Seattle, Washington, USA - APR 29, 2007
Twelve ounce bottle poured a clear, dark coppery red, with a thin, fine-grained head that dispersed into spiderweb lacing. Smells of sugar, malt, prunes, and alcohol; almost identical to Samuel Smith’s Nut Brown Ale. Taste has hints of nuts, caramel, and hops, with a mildly bitter finish. Mouthfeel is distressingly light and uninteresting; I was expecting wicked flavor or carbonation or something ... anything! This beer is pleasant, but nothing really jumps out about it.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 nearbeer (2572) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - APR 22, 2007
UPDATED: FEB 6, 2009 Bottle. Nice brown-red with medium-large head that lasts. Aroma is mildly bananas, dry British yeast and some malt. Flavor is similarly mild with mostly yeast and malt on the front, and some small bittering hops on the end. Well balanced, but still has some hop tickle, and a slight sour-dry finish that is satisfying. Palate is more light than medium, and has a nice dry quality with some hop-prickly edges. A widely available fall-back session brew when great beer is hard to find.

Poured a dark copper color with a minimal white head that disappeared quicker than supporters of Alberto Gonzalez. No lacing. The aroma I got initially was banana. Followed up by sugar. Smelled like the grilled plantains you get down at The Columbia restaurant down at St. Armand’s circle in Sarasota. Also noted some malt. The flavor was sour malt with virtually no hops on the backside to bail this mess out. Watery mouthfeel, sour aftertaste.

Yeah, well. My wife got this one on her own and since I ran out of stout, here I am. Not impressed, but it’s not horrible either. A bit "twangy" for me.

Bottle - Dark amber color with rocky off-white head. Sweet roasted malt, slight hops aroma. Flavors of sweet/sour malt, roasted nuts, caramel, ... not much, but slight hoppy aftertaste. Medium bodied / mouthfeel.

If i were a 16 year old school girl 8 years ago. And this beer was some jock. Then this beer would be the beer I lost my virginity too. This beer is why I’m not one of those piss water drinkers. My beer didn’t look like this. This beer is dark and more suave. my beer had a red lable on it with some lumberjack giving me the thumbs up. Or like that guy Al from tool time. Some day I’ll get this on tap hopefully. Rekindle the old flame.

Fresh malty smell. A little bit of hops in the smell. Very pretty thin headed ruby color. Peppery sweet with some yeastyness that I couldn’t identify at first. Some bitterness. I do like this alot.
