Celebrated as America’s Original Brown Ale, Wicked Ale’s inviting ruby-brown color, distinctive malts and aromatic Brewers Gold hops will stir up a devilish urge to let loose.

Aroma of C hop, chocolate malt. Good carbonation. Nicely hoppy, citrus, and brown in that it had a bit of root beer taste to it and had a reddish brown colour. Well malted, tasty and I could have this as a regular brew.A very nice ale, in a blind taste I thought it was a Great Lakes.

(12 oz bottle: Hi-Time Wine Cellars in Costa Mesa, CA) Honestly, this beer really seems to have undergone quite a change from 10+ years ago, back when I first started drinking "better" beer and Pete’s Wicked Ale was one of my staples. It used to be more roasty with a mild hoppy bite in the finish, but now, it’s sweet, sugary and mildly caramely with seemingly no hops. Even this wouldn’t be bad tasting, but there’s a fairly obvious flavor of cardboard that’s pretty hard to overlook. The odor of cardboard emanates from the glass too, overpowering the sweet corn aroma, not that the corn is appealing either. Light-medium bodied, lightly carbonated, and with the sweet cardboard having nothing to break it up, the beer becomes stagnant on the palate. Dark amber color is also a lighter shade than it used to be. The off-white head pours to half an inch and settles to a ring. Pete’s Wicked Ale was never anything all that special, but it was decent enough. This is just brown sugar water in comparison.

Dark brown and copper, creamy light tan head. Nose was very light with notes of overripe pineapple, nutty caramel, and toast, with lighter floral tones. Flavor was malty up front with earthy caramel notes throughout, and light fruity floral hints coming late. Light bodied, medium carbonation, dry finish. Back in the day, I used to think this was good.....

Nice reddish hue under a medium creamy head. Slight floral hint in the aroma. A bit lighter than I expected for an ale, but not really in a bad way.

I love this beer. Looks great, smells great, tastes great. Very good balance between the malt and hops, no alcohol taste and some floral notes. Very smooth.

Purs a nice amber color with a tinge of deep ruby. Thick head that dissipates rather slowly. Nice malt taste, and a moderate hoppy finish. A good ale. Not hoppy enough for me.

Poured with medium sized creamy off-white head that was mostly diminishing. Color is a nice deep reddish brown. Nose is of hops, malt and honey. Initial taste is a little watery with lingering finish being dry and hoppy. This is not a bad beer at all, certainly quite drinakable, just not a lot of complexity here.
