BruceLeroy (68), North Dakota, USA Oct 12, 2002 I really picked this up on a whim since there was nothing better available. I was pleasantly surprised after having tried their awful ’Strawberry Blonde’ and giving away 5 of the 6 pack. This wicked ale stuff is really great. Nice somewhat rich flavor without too much hoppyness. Does not taste watered down even though it is on the light side of the alcohol content spectrum. Slight nutty texture in the aftertaste. Would buy this stuff again. There are not many better out there in this price range.
gueuze_is_god (101), Graham, North Carolina, USA Aug 6, 2008 Bottle, coarse bubbled head collapses quickly, rich amber/brown/ garnet hue. Smells just like Yuengling Lager to me, a bit stale, some wet cardboard. Taste has a mild a hop backbone, a bit lagerish, just a trace of brown ale flavor, watery mouthfeel, highly attenuated without much malt body. Finishes watery with a quickly dissipating hop flavor. Doesn’t cross the finish line with a 3 rating for me. JustinFromAL (52), Birmingham, Alabama, USA Aug 5, 2008 Bottle. Pours deep brown with a reddish tint, with two finger tan head. Malty aroma. Not what I expected when I saw "brown" ale. Not a lot of flavor, but what is there is a bit watery with a malty taste. phishpond417 (1231), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Jul 28, 2008 This is not my kind of brown ale..Pours a clear copper colour with decent size off white head. lacing is nice, but thin and scattered. aroma is a little metallicy and malty at times. touch of nuttiness, but mostly watery at times. weak brown ale in my opinion. HoppyGuy (84), USA Jul 21, 2008 Bottle. Pours a deep mahogany brown color with a one inch tan head. It has a mild malty aroma with a touch of hops. It’s been a long time I’ve had on of these, and it isn’t as Wicked as I remember it being. Not a bad brew, but not great, either. derekbang (93), Indiana, USA Jul 13, 2008 Nothing really stands out about this beer - farirly bland. Years ago when microbrews were becoming more available, this seemed a better selection. As the quality and availabilty of microbrews has exploded, it simply doesn’t stand up.
