popdoggy (100), USA Apr 12, 2008 Not a bad summer ale. It’s would best be served when hot and thirsty. Nothing repulsive or unpleasing about the beer at all. Way better than a miller lite or something like that. I think a 23 is a little low, but I guess It is what it is.
Angeloregon (1694), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 21, 2008 Thanks to my brother Mario for a bottle of this one--Poured a hazy golden-amber body with a medium-sized white head. Grassy, earthy, mildly spiced hops aroma. Fizzy, citrus and biscuit nose. Sweet and mildly bitter finish. Sessionable. durhambeer (349), Durham, North Carolina, USA Jul 6, 2008 Drank it from the bottle--just didn’t even feel like pouring it into a glass. This is the kind of beer made to be drunk from the bottle, you know? Pale lager taste with some hops on the back end with a lemony zip as well. Tastes a bit watery, but really easy to drink. Give me a boat, a 90 degree day, and some sunshine, and I could drink 8 of these suckers. Otherwise, meh... beerbill (1197), Laurel, New York, USA Jul 5, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours a slightly hazy bright gold with a moderate white head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass. Light aroma of grassy hops and citrus. To be specific, the citrus reminded me of Sprite. The flavor is very weak malt up front followed by a wash of lightly sweet Sprite. Light bitterness at the finish. Thin, watery mouthfeel. Dull and uninteresting. Yet another winner from the folks at Matt. Heathen (474), Riverside, New Jersey, USA Jul 1, 2008 THOUGHTS: Reminded me of a simpler Sweaty Betty. A little thicker than a lot of summer beers. This just proves you don’t need to be watery to be a refreshing, easy drinking summer beer. It had just the right amount of lemon. It was like adding some lemon to your iced-tea or diet cola, but to your beer. Nice beer, but nothing special. But a wonderful summer beer.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a medium yellow to light orange with a small to average, off-white head that mostly diminished. The aroma was light caramel malt, slight grassy hops and lemon. The initial flavor was ever so slightly sweet and moderate to heavily acidic; while the finish was lightly sweet, acidic and bitter, and slightly sour with a short to average finish. There was some malt, lemon and a little hops in the finish. The light to medium body was slightly syrupy and then a little dry with fizzy carbonation and a moderate to heavy astringent finish. GarrettB (382), Centennial, Colorado, USA Jun 30, 2008 Beer and baseball is a classic combo. So much so, in fact, that Colorado’s dedicated major league baseball stadium was named "Coor’s Field" without much of the fuss such corporate namings attract. Pete’s Rally Cap Ale is a different breed, though, and unlikely to challenge the macro dominance in the stadium’s concession stands. Its thin snow white head makes a nice lid for the bubbled, light orange beer. The aroma holds the smell of unripe bananas, malts, caramel, marachino cherry, puffed brown rice and brown sugar. The taste is vibrant and bright, with a clear, ringing malts flavor and the slightly bitter taste of lemon and iced tea. I find it refreshing, but boring and not quite something I’d pair with brats or peanuts.
