JorisPPattyn (5155), Antwerpen, Belgium Mar 15, 2005 This beer is more widely known as Orval Vert . Orange-amber, slight haze; huge off-white head. Typical but very intense grapey Orval nose, hops (dry), leather, Brett - including horsey finish - bit of lunaria, herbal-spicey. Bone dry - but light - fruity, grapey taste, rosewater flavour without the sweetness, different herbal flavours, slightly grassy. Quite light MF, but more filled than expected. Watery feeling as fine spring water. Ultra-long typical hop aftertaste (more taste/flavour than bitterness). Very strangely a very pleasing beer. Something to raise (healthy) children on. Or Brits. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA Nov 22, 2004 Similar to the Chimay Doree, this is similar to a Orval Light. No label on the bottle. Cloudy orange color with a smallish head. Aroma is herbal and hoppy. Taste is thin (expected), light toast and mild malt. Another beer I could sit and drink for a day or two, non-stop. MilkmanDan (1940), Eagan, Minnesota, USA Nov 21, 2004 Cloudy light tea color. Phenomenal nose, just fascinating, sour and orange, with apricot and spice. Taste starts fruity but then dies away, is a bit toasty but has an unpleasant almost cheap lager-esque harsh finish. egajdzis (3602), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 21, 2004 Poured an orange golden color with a medium sized white head and left light lacing on the glass. Sweet, light buttery, and spiced aroma. Taste was light, dry, and straw. Wet mouthfeel. Emil (6075), Copenhagen, Denmark Sep 20, 2004 Updated: Nov 16, 2004Hazy orange color, heavy ashtray aroma, light weak taste, light watery body, light dry finish. Orval with water in it. joss (3632), Garching b. München, Germany Sep 17, 2004 Orangepeel nose.
Hazy amber, low creamy head.
In the flavor I mostly get light oranges -
slightly metallic.
Light body.
Mhh couldn’t really enjoy this one. Engelsmann (653), Copenhagen, Denmark Sep 13, 2004 Thin hazy brown, with a great spicy aroma. The taste is a bit weak, almost like a watered down Orval. Nate (2533), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 5, 2004 Fruity barnyard yeasty nose, that distinctive Orval spiciness. Orange-dark amber clear, with thin off-white lacing head. Thin body with light-medium carbonation. Starts dry, wiyh light hops and spiciness. Low alcohol is apparent. Low malts, light hops, though the taste itself is very dry. Very simple beer. No match for regular Orval. Good taste, though, just weak.
