Orval van het vat op 6 aug. 2013 geproefd in A l'Ange Gardien. Mooi amber bier met vaste stevige schuimkraag blijvend op her bier. Mooi frisse moutig bittere aanzet. ---Rated By the Belleketels

Tasted at the Orval cafe next to the Orval Abbey. I was waiting for a long time to have it. It is not as nice as the heavenly regular Orval, but just the fact that you have it on draft in an amazing place, it makes it perfect. Its less bitter and more yeasty than the normal one, with a soft aftertaste.

Bottle at DHVL. 2009 vintage. Clear light copper liquid with medium to big off-white head. Aroma of light barnyard, bread, mint, light grain, light fruity funk and lemon peel. Taste is dry and light bitter with notes of light barnyard and bread. Light to medium bodied with medium carbonation. Really very similar to Orval, but lighter. The name is very fitting.

À l?Ange Guardien, outside the Abby. Although Orval still is one of my favorite beers this was a disappointment. Although good, this beer tastes a little of mould and it is watery. Less flavour than the normal ale one.

On tap at A l’Ange Gardien outside of the Orval monastery. Pours a cloudy burnt orange colored body with an inch thick, dense, creamy and foamy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing throughout. Aroma is lightly sweetened, grainy malts with touches of caramel, a light yeasty note, some fruit, and a bit of a musty brett funk. Flavor is similar. A bit funky throughout with a light fruitiness and a grainy, lightly sweetened bready malt. Finishes clean and dry with a light-medium bitterness and a slight funk. Lengthy aftertaste following a smooth, medium-light body and a soft, moderate carbonation. Overall, a pretty solid beer that I’m very happy to try. A lighter and more simplistic version of Orval, but flavorful and balanced with a light funk. Good one.

tasted the 08 and 09 vinbtage next to each other @ heeren van liedekerke both poured clear brownish, no real smell. 09 was a bit sweeter, 08 was more hoppy to me. both are rather wattery ( low alcohol beer) but had taste in a level that seemed fair for the 3,5 it is. carbonation isnt to much or to less.

2008 Vintage was mijn favoriete.

Pours semi-transparent orange with a small off white head. Very similar to the regular. Nose bready, cloves, banana and some nice lemony earthy Brett in the mix. Tastes where it differs from the original. It's a nit no frills. Slightly bitter and a little sweet but just a little off. More bland. Mouthfeel is crisp and very clean, light body and a medium finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle at Abbaye - Hazy orange coloured, medium sized head. Orange and lemon in aroma along with wheat notes. Flavour is weaker than normal Orval but still pleasant enough.

Draught @ L’Ange Gardien, Orval. Pours amber orange dark golden, shiny beige head. Looks the same is regular Orval. Nose of dry noble hops, grass and herbs. Imo more hoparoma than regular Orval (the monks are just craving for a light IPA). Alcohol percentage 4,5% said the menu. Taste is primarily yeast/dough, with good carbonation, finish is bitter with a touch of sourness. It is a bit lighter than its big brother, but it’s the perfect session ale, hands down.
