Unmarked 33cL bottle at L’Ange Gardien on 9/12/06. Pours just as beautifully as it’s big brother, big pillow foam atop a nice amber colored beer, retention is average and the lacing is world class. Very much reminds me of Orval turned down to 7 (instead of it’s usual 11), still has all the trademarks, subtle hoppiness, nice tartness, perfect maltiness all just slightly muted. A bit drier maybe and surprisingly nowhere near as light in palate as I was expecting for a 3.5% beer.

Clear light amber beer with only a smale white head. Fresh citrusaroma. Also a bit hoppy and yeasty in the nos. Sweet maltiness in the mouth with a nice bitter aftertaste.

Bottle conditioned at Cafe Ange Gardien, Villers devant Orval, Belgium. Amber with big white head. The bottle is unlabelled, the difference indicated by the Green badge on the glass rather than Blue, I love these traditions. Thinner version of the big brother but still hoppy, juicy, mid malt with a apricot fruitiness. Short finish but very drinkable.

Copper color is less hazy than its big brother. Lightly floral and yeasty aroma. Flavor is light, dry and dusty, with very mild hops and carbonation. Damn refreshing, especially after a hot day exploring the abbey ruins. And I do wish there were more tasty beers with lower alcohol levels.

A Mes rate: What a treat! Every single bit what I hoped it would be. A downable and mellow Orval. It’s never going to be a huge scorer but it’s a fantastic beer and at 3.5% perfectly sessionable. I WWWWISH!

Although it has not much alcohol in it, his taste is still very unique as his stronger brother. And even thid beer you can drink after years.

Dark golden body, creamy thick white head; Very Orvalish great nose, not as big as the "normal" Orval; The body is a bit thin/watery, quite bitter; Hoppy, bretty aromas in a very long finish, a bit thin. Great very fresh beer, perfect summer beer!
