COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A deep reddish, malty, and complex Belgian style ale. Belgian candied syrup made from beets adds flavors of ripe red fruit to the caramel undertones created by the malt.

16 ounce can into chalice, no can dating. Pours fairly crystal clear deep ruby red/copper color with a 1 finger fairly dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a spotty lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of raisin, plum, cherry, fig, apple, pepper, clove, light banana, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, light chocolate, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast and dark/bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of big raisin, plum, cherry, fig, apple, pepper, clove, light banana, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, light chocolate, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Moderate amount of yeast spiciness and light herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, plum, cherry, fig, apple, pepper, clove, light banana, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast and dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/spiciness balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light dryness from yeast spiciness as well. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderately creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warmth present after the finish. Overall this is a very good dubbel style. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast and dark/bready malt flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

A brownish dark ochre color. Roasted caramel nutty scent. Taste is a decent and and a but light in the Belgium style, but had a good American version of a dubbel going for it. Not great, but not awful. Tap

Low ratings are not to be believed! Modest aroma but pleasing dark amber color. Leans sweet per the style. Malt forward with ripe fruit and caramel flavors!

Aromas are very malt oriented - molasses, caramel, toffee, nuts. Hops are quite subdued. Head is pretty sparse and white. Beer is clear. Alcohol is pretty heavy. Lots of candy sugar, though not too over whelming. Palate is medium to heavy bodied; an odd combination of oily, slick and creamy texture. Fairly long finish. Moderate to heavy sweetness, but not overly sweet. Overall I like it. Some complexity and interest from the toffee, sweetness and candy sugar. Nice.

This beer is very refreshing. It almost has a berry taste and is easy on the palate. Would drink again ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Wow expected so much more from the description. Metallic, rust, wet booze aromas. Flavors of sweet malt backbone finished with a woodsy oak hint. Somewhat weak

Can. Pour into a tulip medium brown, off-white, almost grey head. Aroma is lovely dark fruits, figs, plums, ester notes, a bready caramel note, intense belgian-style yeast and esters come into play, very sweet aroma. Really classic dubbel. Flavor is sweet dark fruits, lovely ester notes, caramel, again, super classic dubbel. A really good example of the style in my opinion.

Julie likes. A nice belgium very cool as crisp she gives a 3. There isn't a lot on the back end for malt ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Way too sweet, and very metallic. Pours out dark amber with small beige head. Aroma is iron and rust. Taste is more of the metal with some rock candy sweetness . Finish is blunt and more metal. Served ice cold from a can which may be part of the problem.

Darker nut flavor. Not my favorite. At Tuscan.........................................
