COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A deep reddish, malty, and complex Belgian style ale. Belgian candied syrup made from beets adds flavors of ripe red fruit to the caramel undertones created by the malt.

Pours a dark amber with a thin white head. Aroma is caramel, biscuit, and cardboard. Flavor is similar, dry. Soft carbonation. Meh.

On tap at Hopcat. Watery mouthfeel. Beautiful color. Light booziness with fruit and quick disappearing flavor.

16 oz can. Pours clear reddish amber with a medium light tan head that retains well and leaves a little lacing.

The aroma is malty fruitcake with some Belgian notes.

The flavor is sweet sugary caramel malts with dark fruit and some Belgian yeast. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, very sweet malty Belgian. A bit too sweet for me.

A- pours a clear ruddy amber with a ginger of khaki head that thins to a skin. No lacing. S- lots of sweet malts and caramel. Brown apples, banana bread, prunes, toasted walnuts, cereal grains, warm biscuits. Light vanilla and bubble gum. Raisins. M- medium thick cloying body with no carb. T- more bitter than expected with banana nut bread mixing with apple cider and bubble gum yeasts and grasses. Hops are assuredly more prominent in the taste. Some light lemon zest with radians and plums and cherries. Middle is cereal and sourdough with lingering malts. Ending dries a bit and has mostly zincs and muddled saccharin sugars. Some grass and lemon persist.

Pint can, thanks to Josh. Pours a foggy chestnut with a loose foam on top that disintegrates into a thin smattering of bubbles. Nose is spicy brown bread, toasted walnut, earthy cocoa and prunes. Tastes of the same mix plus some lightly tart plum and bittersweet chocolate. Medium body has smooth, medium carbonation and a nice balance.

Can. Clear, deep amber/ruby body. Fizzy white head, rapidly diminishing to nothing. No lacing. Aroma of sweet malts, candy sugar, caramel. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Thin to medium body, watery texture, moderate carbonation. I like a malty sweet beer, but this is more sugary sweet than anything else. Just a hint of dark fruits — plum, cherry, raisin. And no hint of earthy Belgian yeast. Its thin body doesn’t help.

16 oz can: Aroma has got a nice banana, clove, plum, spice, and yeast notes. Appearance is a red/copper color with a thick slightly off white head that diminishes slowly. Taste has got a nice fruity hop, a very mild malt note with the banana and yeast taking over on the back end. Palate is medium to high carbonation with a lingering fruity after taste. Overall, Really good. Cheers!

16 ounce can into chalice, no can dating. Pours fairly crystal clear deep ruby red/copper color with a 1 finger fairly dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a spotty lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of raisin, plum, cherry, fig, apple, pepper, clove, light banana, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, light chocolate, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast and dark/bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of big raisin, plum, cherry, fig, apple, pepper, clove, light banana, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, light chocolate, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Moderate amount of yeast spiciness and light herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, plum, cherry, fig, apple, pepper, clove, light banana, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast and dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/spiciness balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light dryness from yeast spiciness as well. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderately creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warmth present after the finish. Overall this is a very good dubbel style. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast and dark/bready malt flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

A brownish dark ochre color. Roasted caramel nutty scent. Taste is a decent and and a but light in the Belgium style, but had a good American version of a dubbel going for it. Not great, but not awful. Tap

Low ratings are not to be believed! Modest aroma but pleasing dark amber color. Leans sweet per the style. Malt forward with ripe fruit and caramel flavors!
