Bottle. Thanks Christian. Pours clear gold with a white head. So very matured aroma - sour, sweet, vinous, barrel, oak, freshness. Good mouthfeel & great Sour ale.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: FEB 3, 2009 Bottle... poured like apple juice with a thin white head. Aroma of floral apples and wine. Very flavorful drink with lots of tart fruit and sourness. Each sip became more enjoyable. Great sour ale with a finish that could almost make you pucker.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
20070610 Not sure of serving, Spuyten Beast of the Yeast. Dark golden with nice but small creamy white head. Aroma is bretty, floral, nice bready malts, orange, and musty apple funk. Smells like a produce aisle in an early summer market. Flavor is bitingly tart. Nice acidity, quick brisk finish. This is a treat that I enjoy whenever I get the chance and, if available locally, I’d keep on hand at all times.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle - batch 38826. Pours a golden color with initial 3 finger head that fades into a top layer. Really carbonated with great lacing. Nose is feet, funk, wood and lemons. Palate is citrusy tart with some cheesy funk and aspirin. Medium mouth feel. Alcohol is well hidden. It’s a decent sour.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
I am surprised to see some of the low ratings for this. This is a nice little underrated sour ale. Beautifully effervescent, sour cherry, old and woody tasting, deep and earth, with a well balanced sour component that is almost vinous. Enjoyable.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Color: Nectar. Little to no white head.
Nose: Deep, rich and spicy nose with a pleasant mustiness, spicy oak and soft, overripe mango.
Palate: Initially sour cherry, lemony oak and tannin. Chalky sweet-tart notes. Pleasant acidity on the finish reminiscent of muscadine and wild honeysuckle vines.

2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: MAY 1, 2008 Bottle procured at half time on impulse. Whew! sour ale is right on but certainly not my style. Champagne nose hits as soon as cap removed from bottle. A deep amber in the glass. Brief sweet body squashed by severe lemon crabapple finish. It seems that was what they were going for so good for them. Pass.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Orange, with a very thin white head. Aroma is apple and pear, with maybe a touch of maple, maybe a touch of white wine. The wineyness really comes through in the flavor, perhaps even some champaigne notes, too. Lots of citrusy, lemonsy notes in the finish. Surprisingly tasty.
