cloudy grapefruit colour with noticeable white crown, generous lace left in glass. Sour flemish aroma, sour apple, somewhat like a wild ale. Numbing sour mouthfeel, with significant carbonation, refreshing. Not for a newbie. Sour apple cider in taste.

UPDATED: AUG 1, 2007 A Mes rate: 33cl bottle from the wonderful Belgian Belly. Wow. What a glorious beer this is. Straight away the nose tells you this is going to be good. A great farmyardy and earthy aroma with plenty of sour fruits and just a faint lick of sugar and cinnamon. Appearance is nothing to get excited about but the strange orangey hue gives hints that this is going to be something unusual, and unusual it is. Actually it’s better than that, a wonderful golden colour of the likes you rarely see and great great looking lace. It drinks like a soft, smooth lambic. You get that fatastic lambic like tarty zing around the mouth and the slight sourish burn on the tongue. A champagne yeast like character that is wonderfully dry and refreshing. Finish is also akin to champagne. Palate is simply excellent. A near perfect mouthfeel with just the right amount of carb. I keep upping the numbers and I can’t help it. I really was not expecting this. It’s like a fine cider, mixed with a top grade golden ale, mixed with a special lambic and capped off with an aged character that makes this a very very good beer indeed. Balance is superb, as is the finish. Wow, wow, wow. I need more of this. Thanks for the recommendation Jason.

This was only my second Flemish sour, and I was not nearly as impressed with this as my first--Verhaeghe Duchesse De Bourgogne. Poured to a golden pale vcolor wityh medium fluffy, head, decent lacing and lots of carbonation. But whereas the Duchesse was a nice mix of sour early, and sweet later on, this was strictly sour, from start to finish. Aroma of sour green apples and vinegar, carried over into the taste and finally the finish. I actually like Flemish Sours, but this one is not my favorite.

Hazy gold pour, Great woody, tart flavor, abit of earthyness on the aftertaste. Lots of citrus and wood, heavy wood(Oak) flavor. Great!

My third time with Petrus and damn these guys are good. This is simply one excellently crafted beer. Aroma is woody, tart and earthy. Appearance is a hazy bannana yellowish color. Mouthfeel is tart, yet still soft enough to be enjoyable. Flavors were very gueuze like but not so far over the top like a gueuze. Slightly fruity, malty, and woody. Yet it also has all the good things like brett, lacto etc to make the beer demand your attention. Really good!

Bottle sampled with Beerded_one. Pours golden with a one finger thick white creamy head. Aroma is slight fermented fruit, oak, sweetness, and yeast. The flavor is super sour, sweet finish, fruit, and some oak. Not my style, but a good flemish sour.

UPDATED: FEB 29, 2008 Pours a light pale gold, moslty clear and a vigorous fluffy white head- small and large bubbles mixed and great lace. Aroma is tart, slightly sour, woody, oak, herbal, earthy, and light brett funk. Nice light bready malts, herbal and spicy hops, oak, light vanilla, fruity, and a light bitter, yet tart and sour finish. The tartness was pretty mellow overall, but blended well with the woodiness. Pretty unique even in the sour ale world.

Bottle shared with HogTownHarry & tupalev -- courtesy of HogTownHarry.</i > Pours a clear pale gold with a spare diminishing white head. Wonderful funky aroma of sour grapes, apples, faint spices, yeast and lemons. Flavour is sour and citrusy with some yeast, oak and a slightly metallic tinge to it. Medium bodied. A little simple, it could be more complex but I still really liked it.

Bottle from Bello Vino in Ann Arbor. Pale yellow-orange with a small white head. Wonderful funky & sour aroma, with notes of lemon, vinegar, yeast and barnyard. Crisp, refreshing body. Flavour is quite tart and acidic, lots of lemon and yeast, and a dry, dusty finish. Really unique stuff, I’m glad to have tried it.

Bottle shared with Hogtown Harry and Blankboy, Harry’s bottle. Very funky fresh, sour, rotten eggs, yeast aroma - lovely. Dark yellow, small white head. Taste: disappointing. Very sour, very tinny, no balance. Lemony finish. One dimensional taste, and boring. No complexity.
