COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Aged? Many beers have a long maturation, but this one has only 24-36 months in oak barrels. Pale? This beer has an old gold to bronze color, rather than the burgundy more common in the breweries of West Flanders. This is the ‘mother beer,’ used in various quantities to blend with the other Petrus beers, and to give them their unique and very distinctive taste. This mother beer is rather sour with a bite like the best Brut Champagnes. A connoisseur’s delight! The only one of its kind on the U.S. market.

poured a dark yellow hue with a frothy white head which had nice lacing. Slight carbonation present. Aroma was a mix of lemon and apple esters and some yeast. Flavor was tart, and at times over carbonated. still nice.

Bottle from Friar Tucks in Champaign, IL. Pours a hazy golden amber with a one finger white head. Aroma of belgian funk- sourness, lemon, and spice. Medium bodied with a soft texture and subtle prickly carbonation. Flavor has the right balance between tartness, sweetness, cherry, and malt. Medium dry and oaky finish, with a bite of acidity before it goes down. Less aggressive than other flemish sours, but very balanced and easy to drink.

Very interesting, reminded me of a grand cru or sour ale really. Poured a medium gold with a thin bubbly white head. Aroma was under-ripe apricot, buttery, Some sour alc. as well. Flavour was intense on the front of the palate with sharp tartness. Middle eased with a bit of malt honey sweetness, then a sour finish that was a bit thin.

Not a pale ale thats for sure Aroma is sour and barn with some leather saddle. Sour throughtout with a hay and straw flavour. Finishes sour with some cherry.

Nose that’s mega sourness and follwed by fruit (cherry.) Appearance of straw/golden. Fluffy head that dies quickly. Light mouthfeel that lets sourness, brettemycisis and barrel aging shine. Mid palate has shortlasting sweetness of cherry and quickly goes to a tartness and bitterness associated with orange rind and prickly. A sipper that warmness one up to the many esoteric styles of Belgium. Yum.
