750mL bottle
pours a clear light amber, the head is gone within a blink of an eye. The aroma is very light. light barnyard aroma and light sourness, probably the least complex aroma of any sour beer I’ve had. The taste is mostly a lemony tart/sourness with a hint of oak. A bit more sour than I was expecting from the nose but still nothing crazy. The finish is clean and crisp.
Overall a great sour beer for the price and definitely for drinking on a hot summer day.

There are better sours out there, sure, but it’s hard to find a better value on a sour ale than Petrus. Always inexpensive, always worth whatever coin you did shell out, this golden, tart wonder provides all the necessities in a quality wild beer, plus a good bit of oaken cheer as well. Granted, on tap Petrus Aged Pale is an altogether different animal, raging and acidic and close to inducing pucker fatalities. Bottled is tamer, but still lovely.
Could look a little better, I guess. Kinda close in appearance to many a lesser lager-- yet this outward frumpiness could be a plus, since it in no way prepares you for the deliciousness to come. As soon as you smell it, though, no questions. Then the sip, the lemony, tart cherry, the moderately easygoing middle, the fade of oak and sour lemon Warheads, shit, this beer is tasty. Great sour fix for a great price.

bottle. Pours a clear golden with a white head. Nose is of sour lemon and sour apple. Taste is of sour apple and some lemon. Mouthfeel is dry with fizzy carbonation.

Bottle. A nice medium sized pillow of white foam sits on top of a clear, golden straw colored beer. Little bubbles can be seen rising to the surface. Really nice looking. Tart aroma with what seems like green apples. Taste is mildly sour. I was honestly expecting this to be a bit more tart because of the aroma. Something is missing around mid palate for me. Lighter body with pretty nice carbonation. For $2 this is a great beer, though.

My first venture trying this style. Smell of vinegar and green apple. Taste was very tart and sour. Not enjoyable at all but I can still recognize a quality offering. Either you like it or you dont.

UPDATED: AUG 31, 2011 Bottle.
Deep golden pour, some white head. Aromas of vinegar and grape skin, small amount of oak. Flavor is quite tart and dry with hints of the oak aging.

750ml corked and caged bottle. Relatively low carbonation pop when uncorked, the mouthfeel has subtled a little as well. Quite sour, lemon lime tones. Clean and almost watery malt backbone, with a mouth puckering tart sourness. Would be even nicer had the carbonation been more champagne-like. Still one of my favorite Petrus beers for sure. Excellent.

This is one of the best sour browns I’ve had. It has a lighter color but still has the hint of cherry and it really surprised me! Awesome!
