4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 brenn79 (859) - Idaho, USA - JUL 4, 2010
Pours deep golden with a nice Belgiumesque frothy white head with tons of small bubbles and excellent lacing, beautiful. Aroma is granny smith apples only more sour, it makes your nose tingle. The flavor is very sour as well, only very mellow and drinkable, no alcohol flavors, no hops to detect, it is a sour ale through and through. Although I have not had many, this seems to be a very good example of the style.

750. Poured light copper with a off white head. Aroma of light honey, dry malt, light sour fruits, apple skin, bit of spice. Flavors were sour fruits, dry malt, light yeast. Somewhat light body, sour, light, crisp however at points not so clean...a little gritty at times which really is prbrably the biggest fault and it’s not a huge one. Finishes tart with a nice woody dryness.

Had this at the Pittsburgh Great European Beer Festival at the Sharp Edge Beer Emporium 6/2010. From a bottle. Taste is mildly tart. Smell is quite fruity. Some sour aroma in the background. Looks like a pale lager. Taste is somewhat tart and easy going, enjoyable. Has an ever so slight bitter background, just barely – enough to let you know it is beer. Good tingle on tongue. If this is a pale ale, its the best I’ve ever tasted. One of the better brews at the fest.

Draft at Monk’s for Dallas and Ann’s engagement. Pours a coppery-orange with a thin white head which diminishes to nothing. Aroma of hay, wheat, Belgian candied sugar, honey, caramel, lemon zest, tart, ripe fruits, and tons of bitter hops. Medium bodied with a stick, tart palate. Acidic, biting finish. Decent sour.

Pours a nice golden orange colour with white lacing. Aroma of vinegar and sour apples, but done in a nice way. A really nice sour apple, vinegar taste up front and a nice nutty malt after taste. A really nice spur ale, I like this one a lot!

(11.2oz thanks to Mora2000) clear yellow with excellent tight lacing. Nose of sour cherry, wet wood, light wood char, tartness. Taste is quite tart, cherry, syrupy, wood, oranges, verging on acidic but in a good way. A nice sour that is inexpensive!
