From the bottle. It pours golden with a beautiful tall lasting white head. The aroma is very tart and complex with citrus, lemon, orange, leather and funk. The flavor is less tart and more acidic with notes of vinegar and a nice balancing sweet fruitiness with tangerine and peaches. Some more tropical notes toward the finish before a leathery and citrus peel ending. Very nice under the radar sour ale.

(bottle) pours a slightly hazy golden colour with a frothy white head. aroma of cherries, balsamic vinegar, black pepper, herbal hops, vanilla and oregano. flavour is mostly the same, with a medium sweetness, some notes of straw, herbal hops, bubbelgum and a tart citrus finish. medium-bodied with average carbonation.

Clear golden with a lasting white head. Aroma is sweet, moderate sour - vinegar - and wood. Flavor is medium sweet, rather sour and rather acidic. Quite dry and rather acidic finish. 070911

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Tulip. Appearance: Slightly hazy golden-blonde with nice, foamy white cap. Some sticky lacing. Aroma: Major apple cider going on here - both sweet and tart. Some light pepper as well. Oak becomes noticeable as it warms. Taste: Very tart and peppery. Somewhat sweet apple, oak and clove provide an additional layer of complexity, but it is the tart, peppery profile that carries from start to finish. Some hoppy bitter notes at the end as well. Palate: Moderately high carbonation, fairly light body, nice dry finish. Overall: I was surprised by how peppery this is, but that seems to make it more refreshing and appealing. Also, despite the onslaught on the taste buds, there is still a nice, soft character beneath that really makes this a fantastic sipper.

12oz bottle from Proof -- vinegar funk aroma - taste is vinegar, green apple, light tart, oak vanilla, clean - straightforward, but good - 7.2

Pours clear golden with a large, fluffy white head. Smells sour, a touch hoppy and a touch malty. Tastes really sour with a touch of vanilla and malty sweetness underneath. Light-bodied with a wet texture and decent mouth-carbonation, Petrus Aged Pale finishes with a nice sourness that fades almost to sweetness.

After years of drinking these fancy beers, I decided to give the sour and wild bunch a honest go of it. Absolutely love this stuff, had on draft the other night at the Thirsty Monk in Asheville. Definitely a mild/light sour for the style, but damn tasty stuff.
