Aged? Many beers have a long maturation, but this one has only 24-36 months in oak barrels. Pale? This beer has an old gold to bronze color, rather than the burgundy more common in the breweries of West Flanders. This is the ‘mother beer,’ used in various quantities to blend with the other Petrus beers, and to give them their unique and very distinctive taste. This mother beer is rather sour with a bite like the best Brut Champagnes. A connoisseur’s delight! The only one of its kind on the U.S. market.

nice beer, has a sour sorrta feel too it. the taste is a lil too acidic for me, but the smell is great. there are lots of both funky and refined notes, good stuff. pretty unique brew.

Bottle at Resurrection Alehouse. Pours dark clear gold, solid white head. Very citric aroma, with an oaky earthiness. Mouth-puckering sour, but still strangely drinkable. Only a touch of sweetness on the palate.

Purchased this 11.2 oz bottle at Hop City in Atlanta, GA. Just one quick question, why don’t the Europeans just up the bottle size to 12 oz.? Again, that was just a question. Anyways, I am relatively new to sours, so I am not so sure as to what I need to be looking for so pardon the rating. This beer poured well. Nice head that faded away quickly. A nice gold/orange appearance. Has a slight translucent appreance; decent looking brew. Slight sour/yeast aroma. Not a very pungent beer, but I am going to let it warm up to see what happens. Even after a little warming the beer still has that somewhat pungent sour/yeast aroma although fruits are starting to come through. The sour aroma isn’t as sour as I thought it would be. Ok, the sour is definitely in the taste. Very sour up front, but there is this hint of bad malt flavor in the back. Very carbonated, so it wasn’t as smooth as I thought it would be. Sour apple flavor dominates. If you swish the beer around a little bit the sour is fine, but again that annoying malt finish is a bit of a turnoff. The sour taste buds are a screaming on this as it warms up. Nice flavor, and again still new to the sour thing, but a good beer.

Source:11.2 oz bottle purchased at McScrooges in Knoxville
Glass:Goblet.
Appearance:Hazy gold/amber with a half finger of white head
Aroma:Sour apple, peaches, berries and sour cherries. Very tart. This might be my favorite sour aroma yet.
Flavor:Sweet cherries, sour apples and funky yeast. A slight metallic finish.
Palate:Medium/light body with solid carbonation.
Overall:The aroma is divine. The metallic bite was the only turn off, but it turned a potential 4.5 into a high 3.

Never heard of an aged pale ale, so I was intrigued right from the get go. Poured a hazy dark golden color with a thin white head. Fantastic aroma! Sour apple and peachy, funky yeast, and tons of tartness. Flavor also has a strong tart bite and was pretty fruity, but I liked it. Didn’t detect any oak flavors, though. Tingly mouthfeel.
