Reviewed 3/6/13. 11.2 oz bottle into a Duvel tulip. A: Pours a light golden amber color. The head is a one finger white shade. Itís more substantial looking than others in the style, but still fades quickly. Thin splotches of lacing are left on the glass. S: Thereís good tartness on the nose - better than I expected really, given how low the Petrus Oud Bruin was in sour qualities. The fruit esters here are pretty light; apple, pear, grapes, and maybe some vague citrus. Even touches of honey and pale malts are found. T: Oh yeah. This one has some good mouth-puckering sourness. Itís definitely acetic/vinegary in nature; however, itís not perfectly integrated within the other (meager) qualities the flavor profile provides. It is balanced well, however. Just like the aroma, there arenít really any cherry fruit qualities, itís pretty much apple/pears/grapes alongside the acetic sourness. It becomes less tart near the finish as some light maltiness and the faintest ípingí of grassy hops come through. M: Pretty damn light in texture, which is just what I look for in the style. Oak tannins help to dry out some of the acidic zing on the finish and aftertaste, and never come across too harshly. It isnít particularly easy to drink, but it IS easy to sip, and thatís what counts. O: This one definitely delivers the sour, puckering bite to it - and at a decent price, to boot! I really wish it was fruitier, but thatís just nitpicking. Iíd definitely consider making this one a go-to sour for me.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy deep golden body with a medium white head. Nose is bretty wooden notes, citric acid, hay, mild apple vinegar and hints of straw, pale malts and red berries. Taste is tart lactic tones, apple vinegar, wood, mild barnyard funky tones and hints of red berries, straw and hay. Medium body, medium to high carbonation. Very pleasant and dangerously drinkable sour blonde, a genre which isnít overwhelming the market - I welcome more of the sort.

Pale gold pour with a thin white head. Aroma winey, vinegar, weird sweet/sour smell, but in a good way. Taste is good and tart, but still with a slightly sweet, winey flavour. As someone who still hasnít really got the hang of sours, this was a really pleasant surprise

Pours a clear golden to light amber colour. Huge aroma of fresh wine must with a hint of vanillin, some lemon pie as well. I would call this beer a very balanced brew but definate sour and lemon pie notes. nice acidity and oak provides texture . pretty good, even if not my favorite style of beer. Iíd say this is decent.

Smells great, super sour, some bready notes, banana. Clear yellow color with long lasting white head. Quite nice flavors in this one, upfront sour, funky, finishes hoppy, earthy bitter. Well balanced and interesting if not overly complex. Medium bodied and highly carbonated.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. This would have to be one of the best value sours we can get in Australia. Marginally cheaper than Lindemans Cuvee Rene and just as good. Fairly heavy funk and barnyard notes in this. I like it

Gulbrun klar med hÝyt hvitt skum. Lukter epler, bśr og noe surt mot eddik. Smaker syrlig og surt. Sitrusskall, blomster og bśreddik. Syrligheten sitter godt med noe pepperig i avslutningen.

We didn't dig this beer. It was harsh in the beginning but as it warmed up it mellowed the flavor

I was waiting for a red beer, and it was a nice amber coloured beer. An acidic beer, but the taste doesnít leave the mouth like other sour red beer.
