4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Reviewed 3/6/13. 11.2 oz bottle into a Duvel tulip.
A: Pours a light golden amber color. The head is a one finger white shade. Itís more substantial looking than others in the style, but still fades quickly. Thin splotches of lacing are left on the glass.
S: Thereís good tartness on the nose - better than I expected really, given how low the Petrus Oud Bruin was in sour qualities. The fruit esters here are pretty light; apple, pear, grapes, and maybe some vague citrus. Even touches of honey and pale malts are found.
T: Oh yeah. This one has some good mouth-puckering sourness. Itís definitely acetic/vinegary in nature; however, itís not perfectly integrated within the other (meager) qualities the flavor profile provides. It is balanced well, however. Just like the aroma, there arenít really any cherry fruit qualities, itís pretty much apple/pears/grapes alongside the acetic sourness. It becomes less tart near the finish as some light maltiness and the faintest ípingí of grassy hops come through.
M: Pretty damn light in texture, which is just what I look for in the style. Oak tannins help to dry out some of the acidic zing on the finish and aftertaste, and never come across too harshly. It isnít particularly easy to drink, but it IS easy to sip, and thatís what counts.
O: This one definitely delivers the sour, puckering bite to it - and at a decent price, to boot! I really wish it was fruitier, but thatís just nitpicking. Iíd definitely consider making this one a go-to sour for me.

Over the past month or so I have finally given into sours and finding the few I like. This beer is one of them. Belgium yeast sour with aged oak taste. Delicious!

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
One of the better, widely available sour beers, though you wouldnít be able to tell from the packaging. Lots of citrus, some lemon and grapefruit. The tangyness of this beer is its greatest advantage.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Golden yellowish color with almost no head. Different aroma. Having trouble describing it. Maybe some sour tropical fruits. Pineapple, grapefruit, slight orange. Herbs, candy. Medium sourness. Wood notes. Sour jolly rancher. Slight green apples. Average carbonation. Wished I liked sour ales more but currently do not care for them.

4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pour is just a bit lighter than the double IPA sitting next to it. Starts with a light, even foam and is very bubbly. Aroma is redolent of sour beer (DUH) also with hints of citrus and oak. The flavor is difficult to classify this evening. Definitely sour up front, with a satiny mouthfeel and a hoppy bitter finish. I would compare this to a dry champagne, though made with malts and aged in oak (and obviously sour). That may be a ridiculous comparison, but that is where my mind immediately went. Very good beer.

Aroma is fris, zurig. Smaak is als witte wijn, licht zuur. Afdronk is mooi.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle: clear pale straw with a very slight haze. Light white head that persists. Lifted sour notes. Old oak. Bright. While sour itís clean. Citrus, vinegar. Layers of aroma. Like a sherry. Nutty. Very dry. Sour and low bitterness. Very fresh and clean. Like drinking lime or lemon juice. Very long and fine. For a sour itís so pure. High carbonation. Feels much lighter than 7%.
Absolutely love this beer. Everything I dry not to make it wine but itís fresh and balanced. Wonderful!
