COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Aged? Many beers have a long maturation, but this one has only 24-36 months in oak barrels. Pale? This beer has an old gold to bronze color, rather than the burgundy more common in the breweries of West Flanders. This is the ‘mother beer,’ used in various quantities to blend with the other Petrus beers, and to give them their unique and very distinctive taste. This mother beer is rather sour with a bite like the best Brut Champagnes. A connoisseur’s delight! The only one of its kind on the U.S. market.

Pours a pale yellow that is clear except for odd big bubbles sticking to the glass. Head is white and thin. The aroma is very sour and reminds me somewhat of wine, with vinegar, lemon, and some spices. The taste remains very sour and tart as expected. It contains more vinegar, spices, banana, and hints of clove. Long sour aftertaste. It has a light body, with a sticky, acidic texture, while being about average in carbonation. To enjoy this you must be a fan of this style. You will then be quite happy. If not, you should probably skip this one.

Nice Flemish Sour Ale. Sour, sweet, and woody flavors. Finishes clean, dry, and sour. Great Ale.

11.2oz bottle, served at 40-45F.

Pours cloudy golden amber with a one finger white head that leaves a few spots of lacing and recedes to a foamy ring and wispy cap.

Aroma is apple cider vinegar, funk, oak, sour. Interesting and inviting. Gueuze-like qualities. Very good strength.

Flavor is tart cider vinegar, funky, oak, a hint of some almost caramel like sweetness lies underneath, finishes with acidic sourness. Good stuff.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied, oily, a bit sticky, sharp carbonation.

Really nice Sour, especially for the price. Great intro to the style for those on a budget.

Bouteille 330ml.

Bottle. A nice medium sized pillow of white foam sits on top of a clear, golden straw colored beer. Little bubbles can be seen rising to the surface. Really nice looking. Tart aroma with what seems like green apples. Taste is mildly sour. I was honestly expecting this to be a bit more tart because of the aroma. Something is missing around mid palate for me. Lighter body with pretty nice carbonation. For $2 this is a great beer, though.

Lys gylden og helt gjennomsiktig. Lavt skum. Aroma av mild edikk. Smaken er sur, edikk. Jeg klarer ikke identifisere andre smaker da surheten overdøver. Tørr, med tynn konsistens.

Bottle from the Bottle Shop Dallas. Tart on the nose. Poured a clear light yellow color with a thin white top and nice lacing. Taste of cherries, acidic, spice. Great carbonation. Overall I wish it was as complex as other sour ales.
