COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Aged? Many beers have a long maturation, but this one has only 24-36 months in oak barrels. Pale? This beer has an old gold to bronze color, rather than the burgundy more common in the breweries of West Flanders. This is the ‘mother beer,’ used in various quantities to blend with the other Petrus beers, and to give them their unique and very distinctive taste. This mother beer is rather sour with a bite like the best Brut Champagnes. A connoisseur’s delight! The only one of its kind on the U.S. market.

UPDATED: MAR 8, 2011 Draft at Bavarian Lodge. Pours a pretty, clear gold with a thin but lacy head. Aroma of apple cider vinegar, and light cheesy funk. Flavor hits you with spritzy tart apple and finishes lemony with a mild spiciness from the oak. Very light barnyard, but certainly not a mother funker. Champagne-like in body, and very refreshing. Alcohol is deeply closeted. Sooooo good.

Would not buy again, didn’t realise was a sour beer. Smells exactly how it taste. Doesn’t describe being sour on the bottle.

Sour apples, a bit of vinegar, and an almost fruity character. Not as much vinegar as most sours. I like it.

Smells like and tastes like a fresh batch of wort. Very grainy. I like the beer, but mostly like how it reminds me of brew day when making homebrew. It’s fairly sweet.

A very clear and bright gold. The foam wasn’t excessive but has a lot of retaining power. Lacing? For sure. Geez, this smells good if you are a sour beer fan and don’t mind some horse blanket permeating your nose buds. I am deliberately trying to pull some of that funk out of my first few sips and I can but make no mistake, this one’s all about the sour and quite a bit about the bitter. On the sour scale shown on the label, 1 to 5, this comes in at a 5. I believe it and I relish in it. I would call it close to medium bodied with a solid but not outrageous level of carbonation. Dang this is good. On or at least at the level of your beers from Cantillion, De Cam, Tilquin, Gerard. . More please!

Where and how: Bottle 330ml
Aromavinous, farm yard, hay, zest and leather. Classic.
Appearance :
Top: medium white cap.
Base: clear golden.
Palate : medium bodied, fairly soft. Tad silky with lighter walls. Medium lighter carbonation.
Taste: very approachable in style. Mid tartness, zest with gentle funk. Refined. Alcohol very well covered. Refreshing after long day,
other notes others can do better.

Light clear gold with fast dissipating white head. Smell is funky, taste is great, bracingly sour. Hard to describe the unique flavours in this beer, acidic, a bit white winey, and very funky. Marvelous!
