Petrus Aged Red is constructed from a base of Double Brown Ale. 15% Petrus Aged Pale is added to provide a dry character to the brew and give it a slight sour essence. Finally the brewer adds fresh cherries, which are evident in the rich thick head. Petrus Aged Red is a perfect blend of sweet and sour with a cherry undertone which makes this brew remarkably drinkable at 8.5% ABV.

750 ml. bottle, dark reddish brown pour with a slight tan head, no lacing. Aroma of sweet cherries, malt, slight oak. Taste is overly sweet cherry, kind of syrupy which dominates the flavor, light sour and no bitterness. Was expecting more tartness, I prefer Rodenbach or Monk’s Cafe. Low carbonation, sticky texture, medium body, and sweet finish.

dark cherry and woody notes. Dark blood-red clear with thin light-pink head. Medium-thick body with medium carbonation with some fizz. Starts sweet with cherries and brown sugar sweetness. Underlying bitterness and tannic quality at the finish. A little too sweet for my tastes.

Aroma of sweet cherry, oak, sugar, tart fruit. Flavour is quite sweet and only light sour. It’s a shame that the sweetness is so dominant. Not for me.

I had this at Flying Saucer. Pours reddish with a tan head. Taste cherries, sweet, sour. I thought this was pretty good. I would definitely drink this again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark ruby red, beige creamy head that nicely laces this ale. Sweet cherry nose. Taste has big sweet cherry flavours too, a little tard vinegar, slightly bitter, far away cask and barnyard. Medium carbonation, good body, oily dry mouthfeel.

Dark red in colour with a slight tan head. Over-riding nose of sweet cherries. Very strong flavour of cherries. Slightly creamy. Nice as a sipper, not sure I could manage a lot of it.

33 cl. bottle poured in to a Snifter. Dark brown colour with a reddish tint. Creamy, lightly tanned head with red hues. Sweet aroma with marzipan, cherries, caramel malts, sugar, light oak and vanilla. Taste is sweet - not not as sweet as the aroma might suggest. Medium to full body with a creamy texture and a soft carbonation. Finishes slightly dry with cherries, rich malts. The cherries turns more tart in the finish. Definitely an Oud Bruin to the sweeter side. The sweetness is overpowering some of the complexity usually found in this style. Nice, trough.

Deep dark red color with a small white head, soft carbonation. Smells like cherries. Taste is sour cherries and a woody finish.
