Some might find it sweet and cough syruoy but I like it. Not sour enough but like a sour cherry candy.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at Winking Lizard. The beer pours a dark reddish color with a medium foamy pinkish-white head that evaporates steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of sweet cherries and grain. Medium body with a mildly tart cherry flavor with a bit of grainy malt in the background. The finish is slightly tart with a cherry aftertaste. Decent, but kind of a poor manís Belgian Red overall (props to JaBier for the analogy).

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dirty pink-cream head, medium if rather stable over spectacular garnet-cardinal red beer, clear. Childrensí cherrysweetsí (poepekes) aroma; cherry essence dissolved in a splash of rainwater; faintly smoked. Smokiness returns somehow in the flavour. Rather than artificial, the cherryflavour strikes me as concentrated, liqueurish, if still pretty sweet. Gets drier, quite woody for an instant, before returning to yet more sweetness. Very little sour tastewise, but there is a certain acidity to be perceived. Very fruit-slick; medium bodied, ever so slightly sticky despite the quite present CO≤, tittilating. Itís not bad, but leaves me unconvinced. It reminds me above all of Rodenbach Alexander, a beer which Iíve always considered to be the best way to ruin a great Rodenbach Grand Cru.

So my wife said: it tastes like sangria. Yes it does. I agree. Cherry forward, light bodied, champagne-like bubbles but short-lived fun. I believe better examples of his style exsist.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A quick trip to the grocery store to buy baking supplies turns up a Belgian Sour with 10 ratings!?!?! Cool situation bros...
Pours a reddish brown color, more red than the standard cola, but in the same ballpark... The head is big and fluffy and seems to be fizzing out quickly as I type this.
The aroma is really something, more floral than anything, but oaky and certainly cherry forward both in a sour cherry and a cherry cola kind of way.... which is weird in a good way... Some bright woodiness makes it seem a little like a popsicle stick, but not really in a bad way. Iíll say the aroma here is neither especially appetizing nor is it uninviting.... itís pleasant, but somehow suspect.
The flavor is certainly more towards the tart cherry flavor instead of the cherry cola flavor, thankfully. Whatís surprising to me about this one is that they decided to take it to 8.5% abv, this drinks like an 8.5% beer, itís a touch too boozy for my taste. Checking Aged Pale it looks like that one is 7.3%, thatís a beer Iím pretty familiar with and Iím surprised that itís that high, this one does not conceal high alcohol in the way that itís lighter sister does. This is one oaky beast as well, lots of odd woody flavors here, itís woody in a complex kind of way, none of that popsicle stick character from the aroma really shows through but rather some mix of red wine barrel character and very raw woodiness is the best way I can describe it. The sourness level is fairly low, more towards the Petrus Oud Bruin side of things as opposed to the Aged Pale sourness. I donít need a huge sour dollop to satisfy, but a little more would have gone a long way to satisfy what Iím wanting from this beer. Still itís nice to see a sour done with cherries thatís easily accessible, and this is enjoyable no doubt.

2.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Dark red colored beer with hardly any (red) head. Extreme artificial cherry nose. Fruity balanced sweet sourish taste. Again something artificial. Dry fruity aftertaste. The artificial aroma spoils this beer for me.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at the Common Table. Pours a reddish color with a pinkish-white head. The aroma and flavor of this beer are basically nothing but juicy, sugary cherries. There is a lightest bit of tartness, but this beer is very, very fruity and very, very sweet. Medium mouthfeel and low carbonation. Tastes a lot like Founders Cerise.
