Petrus Aged Red is constructed from a base of Double Brown Ale. 15% Petrus Aged Pale is added to provide a dry character to the brew and give it a slight sour essence. Finally the brewer adds fresh cherries, which are evident in the rich thick head. Petrus Aged Red is a perfect blend of sweet and sour with a cherry undertone which makes this brew remarkably drinkable at 8.5% ABV.

33 cl. bottle @ home, gift from Hetty. Ruby brown with a beige head. Cherry aroma and taste. The sourness is pushed a bit to the background due to the cherries. While I absolutely love all Flemish Oud Bruins the addition of cherries, thus creating a sort of kriek lambiek, just isn’t my cup of tea. In that aspect it’s a disappointment; on the other hand: I had lots of krieks that were worse.

dark ruby colour, half inch of pinkish beige head, which disappears relatively quickly, leaving back some lacing; aroma of cherry, some marzipan, maybe some raspberry; taste of cherry again with significant bitterness and hints of marzipan; surprisingly dry beer; not bad

Draft at Trinity Brass Tap. Pours a dark reddish brown color with a small off white head. Aroma is mostly cherry with a slight bit of malt. Flavor starts out with cherry sweetness that finishes with a fair amount of tartness. Not as sour as I hoped. I prefer their Our Bruins and Aged Pale more.

Bottle @ home shared by Thompson. Clear deep dark mahogany red color, small off-white to beige head that diminishes almost instantly. Aroma is mostly artificial cherries. Taste sweetness, slightly sour cherries, cherries, slightly vineous. On the other hand, it could also pass as a fruit lemonade. Average body, a bit fizzy carbonation.

Bottle into tumbler, deep reddish hued brown color with foamy tan head. Aroma of candy cherries, liquorice and some red wine. Taste adds notes of caramel, tart sweet cherries, slight nuttiness and tannic oak. Light body, moderate carbonation, sour, sweet, dry with malty tart finish. Nice fruity sour, somewhat on the candy sweet side.

11.2 fl oz bottle into Petrus goblit. Color is red brown, very clear and medium to high carbonation. Head is small and offwhite color, dissapated quickly. Nose is maraschino cherry, liquorice, and tart rasberry or blackberry. Maybe some esters. Palate is very astringent and dry with the cherry aroma shinning through. Not as sour as I expected and definately nothing sweet. Finish is short and very dry, not crisp or quenching.

The Beer starts fruity. The nice typical wooden brown ale character is present, but unfortunately a chemical cherry taste comes in quick. It's the taste of the small red cherry-lollipops I had as a child. Nice and sweet, but 100% artificial. Aroma is also beside sugar in the ingredients, so the 10% cherry-juice is simply waste! Why real cherry-juice if you add chemical aroma? The aftertaste is long, nicely wooden-aged brown ale together with the typical chemical cherry that lies above everything... --> Very sad - a great beer mixed with artificial flavour... --> 7/12/7/7
