3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Smell is if sweet dark cherries. Maybe a slight smell of sour, but cherry dominates. Taste is what would expect from the aroma. No sour flavors at all. All cherry. Maybe some sugars fermented out, but still pretty sweet. Expected some sour in this to balance the sweet. Tasty, but as a cherry ale, but not as a sour.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: NOV 10, 2013 Bottle: deep crimson, blood & ruby red with a cherry cola tinted head that fizzles out quickly & settles as a thin layer of foam on top. Aroma is sweet, candied cherries, sugar, cherry juice, very faint tartness, slight dry oak in the back-end. Taste is sweet cherries, heavy oak, musky dryness, & some astringent red grape skins in the back end. Mild tannic & vinous notes throughout. More sweet & dry, not much tartness at all. Grows sweeter with time; faint oak-y vanilla & sweet cherry finish. Not bad, but not what I was looking for.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled. Poured blood red with a creamy, well-retained tan head. The aroma picked up lots of sweet, lightly-toasted cherries, oak, and almonds.. very sweet overall, but I enjoyed it. The flavor found lightly tart cherry skins and oak throughout.. pale malts and some cherry meat supported.. dry cherry skins, oak, and light oxidation on the lightly-peppery finish.. not particularly complex, but tasty. Lighter-bodied with low carbonation.. OK feel and flow, but just too sweet.. solid overall.

I think I was expecting something similar to the Aged Pale. And going from that I was disappointed.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Keg @ Mekong. The pourís deep red with a tiny off-white head. Super sweet nose. Plenty of bright candied cherry, fruit roll-ups, nostalgic childrenís fruit snacks. The taste is pretty similar. Lightly tart cherry, but mostly sweet, flabby. Medium body, slightly hot. Overall, not a favorite.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at pinnocchios. Pours deep red with no light coming through. The aroma is sweet cherry juice and is quite inviting. Not complex however. The taste is lightly tart cherry, sweet cherry, some almost chocolate covered cherry flavor. It is not perfect but I dig this a lot.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft on tap at World of Beer - Naperville (Naperville, IL). Saw a couple neat ticks on the BeerMenus listing, so I ambled on it. Pours a nice deeper brownish chestnut hue, good haze and darkness in the middle lets way to some rusty glowing reddish brown edges. Mellow glow, some good tannish cakey head sits atop, stands as a decent layer as it dies down. Mellow lacing as it makes way to a decent thicker ring overall. Aromas present a mix of sour cherries, balsamic vinegar, lactic twang and oak. Some toastiness, carmelization, sour and pie cherries mix. A bit of maltiness still sticks around and makes waves. Initial is medium bodied, well carbonated but still a firm body shows caramel, toffee, lots of sweet cherry. Cherry juice, Maraschino meets some tartness at times. Decent stickiness in the body, some toast and biscuits. Middle is a firm sweeter base, mixing with liberal cherry juice and fruit influence, biscuits and caramel, smoothed out with some decent lactic twang, firm oak is a bit tannic, but in the end much more smooth than I expected. No real acidic or vinegar bite as we move into this one, the nose offering more intensity than I anticipated. Backend is Sweet and a bit fuzzy, gentle sweetness tapers out. More in the fruit beer vein, the beer lacks the wild and sour pop I was expecting. Itís not bad, just unexpected. Bigger sweetness but fairly smooth. Itís ok. Certainly hid that ABV tag quite well.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Draft at Mekong. Pours a clear dark red color with a thin creamy tan head. Fair head retention. Aroma of mild tart cherries. The taste is tart cherries, mild earth. Medium bodied, and while more tart than sweet it still comes across as candy-ish.
