COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Petrus Aged Red is constructed from a base of Double Brown Ale. 15% Petrus Aged Pale is added to provide a dry character to the brew and give it a slight sour essence. Finally the brewer adds fresh cherries, which are evident in the rich thick head. Petrus Aged Red is a perfect blend of sweet and sour with a cherry undertone which makes this brew remarkably drinkable at 8.5% ABV.

The beer has a nice look. The color of the beer is a beautiful ruby red, or should I say cherry red. The beer looks quite clear. On top of the beer a slightly off-white layer of soft foam is formed. The bulk of the foam collapses over time, to leave a nice drape of foam on top of the beer. The smell of the beer is nice. It has a natural cherry aroma. Not like a kriek, those cherries always seem artificial to me. This is truly natural. It gives the smell a nice strong sweet and sour base. On top of this base some aromas of oak wood and some malts can be smelled. The cherry aroma is a bit to strong maybe, because the other aromas are a bit lost.byhe taste is great. The cherry is a bit milder. Itís again a rather natural cherry flavor, not as articicial as most of the times. Next to the delicious cherry, I taste a strong, robust oaky flavor. This is great in combination with the cherry. There is a nice alcohol touch as well. Sweetness, bitterness and sour are in good balance, even though the beer is quite sour. This is the first beer of this type Iíve had, and I am not disappointed. Itís a lot better than ice expected. I was afraid it had wild yeast, like the Lambic beers. Iím happy that this isnít the case. Nice beer, and easy drinkable for a 8,5% beer.

Drank with RIk while watching Castle 04-05-2016. Good beer, surprisingly full taste for a red ale. Cherry sweetness is present but not annoyingly much, well balanced with the bitter and the sour.

Brązowe z nutami wiśniowymi. Nalało się z obfitą, średnio pęcherzykową pianą w kolorze brudno růżowym. W aromacie wyraźne wiśnie, pachnie słodko. Lekka nuta migdałowa. W smaku kwaskowe, wyczuwalne zdecydowanie wiśnie. Alkohol niewyczuwalny. Pozostaje lekka goryczka w posmaku. Przyjemne, ale piłem lepsze sour red/brown.

330ml bottle from Club de Cervezas. Bonus. Thank you, Eduardo. Pours a slightly hazy mahogany/crimson color with a medium off-white head that diminishes slowly and laces well. Aroma is fruity with cherries obviously dominating, but it also has some beer qualities. Notes of sweet and sour cherries, oak, cherry liquor, marmalade and yoghurt, christmas cake and some candy. Taste is sweet but well-balanced. Some sour hints come through the densely fruity touches. Sweetness is present but not overpowering at all. The alcohol rounds up very well with strong liquorish character. Sticky texture, low to medium carbonation, long aftertaste. A delicious beer, but not nearly as sour as I expected.

Bottle at home. Sweet sour taste. Cherry syrup and a dry yeast flavour. Red wine-ish in a pleasant way. Interesting one.

Pours a reddish color with a small beige head. fruity, light sour aroma. Sweet fruity flavor with a light sour dark fruit finish, still not as good as the Rodenbach series.

Bottle, 33cL. Home. A dark brown red burgundy shining beer ; medium beige foamy head with a good retention. Cherry, light wood, alcohol, sugar. Medium to heavy sweet, light warming baseline, bitter note, acid note. Medium body, average texture, oily, nearly sticky, good crabonation, short fruity finish. Overall, ok fruity beer ; very sweet ; lack of character ; "remarkably drinkable" as in the deScription.
