COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Petrus Aged Red is constructed from a base of Double Brown Ale. 15% Petrus Aged Pale is added to provide a dry character to the brew and give it a slight sour essence. Finally the brewer adds fresh cherries, which are evident in the rich thick head. Petrus Aged Red is a perfect blend of sweet and sour with a cherry undertone which makes this brew remarkably drinkable at 8.5% ABV.

750 ml served in a tulip. Pour is a clear dark ruby with a thick tan head and ok lacing. Aroma is canned cherry, yeast, and sweet sugar glaze. Taste is like cherry pie filling aged in oak barrels. Creamy with a sharp bite. Nice.

Bottle. Pours cloudy reddish brown with decent off white head and lacing. Nose and taste is cherry pie filling. Just a little tartness in the aftertaste. Good.

Shared 11.2 oz. bottle. Reddish brown color. Smells strongly of cherries. Tart cherry taste, but also some sweetness. Fair, but not great.

Aroma: cherry and medicinal -- Robitussin; Appearance: muddy brown that glows red in light; Taste: sour cherry with sweet finish; Palate: medium body with soft carbonation; sweet and sour finish; Overall: too sweet but not bad if it’s a hot day and you want a Kool-Air type drink. Almost refreshing. Would not buy again.

Cherries, cherries and cherries! This beer is sweet! But maybe a bit to sweet for my taste...

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy/fizzy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is dark amber/brown/red. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), with strong notes of cherry and black cherry. Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, lively/fizzy carbonation, moderately alcoholic. Basically a very sweet cherry soda with alcohol. Glad I didn’t have to spring for the 750mL bottles to try this.

Bottle 33cl shared by Calisky. A dark amber beer with good off white head and good retention. Nose is on cherry and tart touch. Aroma is sweet on cherry and oak notes, red fruits background, correct body but really too sweet.

Medium karbonering.

Fair. Tart and sweet aroma at the same time. The malts were evident but distracted with the sourness. I believe more time they will blend together better. I enjoyed the beer but the contrast between flavors needed to meld better.
