Petrus Aged Red is constructed from a base of Double Brown Ale. 15% Petrus Aged Pale is added to provide a dry character to the brew and give it a slight sour essence. Finally the brewer adds fresh cherries, which are evident in the rich thick head. Petrus Aged Red is a perfect blend of sweet and sour with a cherry undertone which makes this brew remarkably drinkable at 8.5% ABV.

11.2 fl oz bottle into Petrus goblit. Color is red brown, very clear and medium to high carbonation. Head is small and offwhite color, dissapated quickly. Nose is maraschino cherry, liquorice, and tart rasberry or blackberry. Maybe some esters. Palate is very astringent and dry with the cherry aroma shinning through. Not as sour as I expected and definately nothing sweet. Finish is short and very dry, not crisp or quenching.

Tastes like a malty sour brown. A touch of twang and cherry. A little syrup-like for my taste but the finish is nice with more tart. No alcohol flavor.

Bottle. Pours a dark reddish brown, with a pink- tinged froth which lasts a minute or so. Nose is cherries, cherry stones, peach pits. Taste is bitter cherry, bitter almond, sour, refreshing. Palate is rather highly carbonated for me, a bit gassy, but otherwise very refrwshing and slightly sour, with cherry skins and tannins.

Bottle. Pours dark red brown with a reddish head. Cherries, jam, caramel, candy in the nose. Taste is similar, cherries, caramel, marzipan, quite sweet, a bit of vanilla and light bitterness. Medium bodied, relatively dry. Nice.

Keg at Bow Bar. Pours deep pinkish red. Nose is huge cherry, not much else. Tastes very sweet cherry, light backbone, oak, all about cherry and very sweet but still enjoyable.

330 ml bottle. Bought in a Jumbo in Santiago. Dark amber color with creamy high foam. Berries smell with wheat and pepper, over the top sugar for me. Can taste the oak, and the berries give some winish taste, it’s pretty good and different of what i was expecting. Usually i feel that oaked beer it’s too acid, but the sugar here gets the balance well. It’s way better than regular Petrus. Sadly it’s way to sweet, but it’s an excelent beer.

Bottle. Clear red with pinkish head. The aroma has notes of cherry, wood and dust. Sweet and alcoholic flavor with notes of cherry, lemon, and wood, syrupy, sourish. Medium to full-bodied.
