COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Petrus Aged Red is constructed from a base of Double Brown Ale. 15% Petrus Aged Pale is added to provide a dry character to the brew and give it a slight sour essence. Finally the brewer adds fresh cherries, which are evident in the rich thick head. Petrus Aged Red is a perfect blend of sweet and sour with a cherry undertone which makes this brew remarkably drinkable at 8.5% ABV.

Pours an almost black red color with a strong aroma of cherries. Cherries also dominate the flavor of this beer and the sweetness of the aroma and sourness of the flavor go together very well.

330ml bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours clear deep red, thick, long-lasting off-white head. Aromas of sour cherries, light wood spice notes, cream. Taste is cheery, sour, sweet notes there too. Chalky towards the end, but very nice and easily drinkable.

33 cl. Pour is dark reddish-brown with a small moonscape of foam on top. Luscious aroma of the freshest, sweet-tart dark cherries with cream and a touch of brown sugar. Flavor is the same great blend with just the slightest bit of spicy, grassy hop on the finish to provide a subtle balance. Medium-heavy body is definitely sweet but never sticky, with a mostly smooth medium carbonation. Very little sour in this one, but it’s dangerously drinkable with nary a trace of the 8.5%

Flaska från belgianbeerfactory.com. Rubinröd färg med låg skumslöja. Dofter av bittermandel och körsbär. Sötsyrlig körsbärssmak. Altandricka.

on tap at biermarkt, ottawa. unclear copper pour, orange tint, with a creamy off-white head, good retention and lacing. spicy and fruity toasted caramel, lots of cherries, light acidity, wood, tobacco, very few tannins, light carbonation, light body - slightly watery; relatively dry and spicy-woodsy finish. comparable to its pale sister. pretty nice.

Delightful, nice sweetness, yet touch of sour. Color is clean crisp red. Will definitely have again.

Bottled@Tuulensuu, Tampere (old backlog). Hazy coppery amber colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is fruits, some wood, mild cherries, floral notes and some slight sourness. Flavour is quite tart fruits/berries along with some wood, mildyeast as well as some earthy notes. The dry tartness manages to hide the alcohol rather well in this one.

The pour is a deeply dark garnet red. Smallish head of foam over achieves with the lacing. The aromas of mostly sweet but some sour cherries is all I get smell wise but that’s what this beer is all aboot. The taste is closer to a 60-40 mix of sweet and sour. Hints of some oaky notes in the finish. Nice mouthfeel and very drinkable for the one bottle. I’m very happy that I bought the Petrus sour pack.

Piwo o barwie rubinowej, wiśniowej. Klarowne i przejrzyste.

33cl bottle@Amager Ølhus in Petrus Tulip@approx 7 degrees C. Pours deep ruby with beige head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of malt, wood and cherries, fresh without being sour. Flavour of dark beer, chocolate and oak upon tasting and then the tart, slightly sour cherry taste kicks in through the also present alcohol. Palate creamy and well balanced. Here for once, the cherries do not taste artificial and make perfect sense. Petrus Aged Red is a joy to be consumed slowly - only drawback being the high ABV which also comes through in the taste. Best frut beer I have tasted yet.
