Poured a cloudy orange with a good bit of carbonation and a nice head. The beer smelled fruity, with a strong citrus/orange presence. The beer was flavorful and fruity with some spicy, earthy notes. There is just a small hop presence that balances out the fruitiness. The beer has a champagne quality to it in its carbonation and flavor. Excellent.

33cl, from De Hopduvel Gent, complex brew, yet easy to drink, not balanced, clear, rocky head, nice brew

Bottiglia da 75cl comprata dal mio fruttivendolo in via Maddalena, bevuta con 3 amici oggi. Aroma delicato, sapore un po’ acidino, ma non spiacevole.

From a six beer Petrus sampler- another free gift complements of my employer (The Party Source.) Poured into my Petrus tulip, this had a mid-sized, soft, creamy head and a darkish bronze to gold body. I admit I was a bit hasty with the pour, and didn’t retain any yeast. This definitely made the beer much darker, a bit tart, and winey- unusual for a blonde. Underneath the earthy, funky yeast complexities, the normal characteristics were there: a bright, fresh aroma, full of vanilla, saffron, honey and very sweet Belgian candi sugar. Quite enticing, with a little citrussy sparkling lemon-ade note as well. The taste is immediate fresh citrus fruit, with very little carbonation and a soft, sticky mouthfeel. There is little dryness and this actually finishes quite sweet, with a light caramel malt flavor and a lingering honey character. Interesing taste, but just a little off..

330 ml bottle. Pale golden color, frothy white head. Spicy aroma. Earthy malt flavor with some citric notes, some alcohol in the finish. Very high, somewhat intrusive carbonation, medium body. Not bad, but the carbonation is a bit too sharp even for the style.

Pretty straightforward Belgian blonde with a little more sweetness than I’d prefer. 33 cL bottle pours a lovely, bright gold with thick white head. Sweetish, grainy aroma with light yeasty citrus and maybe clove esters. Moderate sweetness with light bitterness. Fullish body and somewhat lively mouthfeel. Fairly clean, slight bittersweet aftertaste.

(330 ml bottle from Bootleggers, part of a Petrus sampler pack) Pours cloudy apricot-amber with one finger of whitish head. Aroma is a bit sweet and sourish, probably more sweet. Smells like fruit, malty rock candy, red wine, maybe brown sugar. Pretty nice. Mouthfeel soft and pretty smooth. Nicely defined weepy rings of lacing. Flavor is sweetish and fruity, perhaps touches of sour. Malt candy and brown sugar with perhaps a hint of smokiness. Finishes a little dry with a bit of cinnamon. Also has a warming alcohol presence. Really pretty good.
