Bottle: Clear, ruby amber coloured, stable brownish foamy layer, moderate to solid toasty-nutty nose with traces of caramel; light to moderate - mainly - sweetish flavour with some bitter traces in the background, light to medium bodied, a bit fizzy; brown bread, caramel in the sweetish finish, rounded by a slightly lingering malty bitterness. Brown 33cl bottle, one of the last in my Petrus collection to be reviewed. Best before 06 Aug 09, drank 29 Oct 09, so slightly overdue. Poured into my Westmalle chalice; Depp ruby red, slight haze to the body. Good creamy head, tan coloured, lacing held as the glass emptied. The smell and taste married each other very well, fruity, I found raspberries, strawberries and hints of cherry in both the aroma and flavours. A little on the sweet side, as many dubbels are. In the aftertaste I detected a bitter dark chocolate feel in my mouth, wasn’t there at the begining. Not bad at all, the Petrus brand covers a host of beer styles, all seem to fit in the ’just above average’ category. This one is no exception.

Bottled. Very dark brown with a beige head. The aroma is toffee with a hint of citrus like lemon. The flavor is quite balanced sweetness and bitterness. Mouthfeel is smoothly bitterness..

330ml bottle from Bierzwerg. Deep dark brown colour with decent head. Aroma and flavour is cherries, semi sweet. Really tasty one.

Birra originale. Al naso si presenta con sentori di uva passa e mosto d’uva tutto venato da qualcosa di zuccherino. Al palato è dolce.Torna un qualcosa di vinoso con prugne e fichi secchi. Come detto, particolare ma anche buona.

On draught at Winking Lizard. This beer is a cloudy dark reddish-brown color with a minimal off-white head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of malt, fruit and toffee. Medium body with a fruity character and notes of yeast, caramel and a touch of hops. The finish is fruity with a short malty aftertaste. Decent overall.

UPDATED: APR 6, 2012 Smells caramel, raisin, roasty. Appearance - darkish brown with small tan head. Taste - caramel, chocolate, roasty, pleasant sweetness with nice finish. Would pick up again.

Murky dark brown with a thin laceful beige head. Nice aroma of dark candy sugar, a light tone of chocolate, toast, and a fig note. Flavor is much the same; dark candy sugar, a little bit of raisin, a touch of chocolate, some of that classic belgian dark ale yeast. Drinkable but very full.

Sweet oak aroma. Watery texture, little carbonation. Bittersweet flavour with some oak in it.

33cl bottle @ home. Clear deep dark red color, small off-white head. Smell dark malts, lightly roasty, some sweetness. Taste malts, syrup, raisins, some sweetness. Medium carbo, medium body.
