lithy (86), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jul 22, 2008 Dark ruby brown with a light soda tan head that hangs around for a while. A lightly wooden aroma paired with a sweet caramel seems to contrast with the appearance of this dark brown ale. Nice and creamy in the mouth with a smooth roasted character that is followed by a small amount of bitterness. Very drinkable. DuffMan (1890), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Jul 19, 2008 Dark brown, with a shade of red. Malty toasty, brown sugar aroma. The same on the palate, pretty straightforward really. A bit of yeasty fruit. The mouthfeel is on the thin side, and the finish is sweet. I don’t know, but this just didn’t ring my bell. On a different note, it’s pretty funny that the last three ratings are from Albertans! How can you tell Petrus beers just arrived in Alberta?! presario (2389), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Jul 16, 2008 Bottle. Very reddy dark brown with thin light brown head. Chalky cocoa marshmallow aroma. Tastes more like a dopplebock or milk chocolate stout. Lots of chocolate, not the usual Belgian flavours. Still an OK tasty brew. pintbypint (877), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Jul 15, 2008 330ml brown bottle. Chestnust brown pour, quite heady - tan coloured foam. Good creamy lacing left behind. Sweet malt aroma, light toffe/brown sugar. Initally sweet on the tounge, brown sugar, light raisin, caramel. Chewy, medium body. Mild carbonation. Nice ale, a bit sweet, but quite drinkable. skoisirius (431), Seattle, Washington, USA Jul 13, 2008 Bottle and tap. Another mediocre brew from Petrus. Nice sweet fruity malts aspect though. Taste a bit more like a bock almost because of the thin body.
