Petrus Double Brown Ale is a top-fermented dark beer. Brewed with pure spring water and carefully selected hops and malts. The dark beer with its subtle and slightly caramelized flavour is preferably served cool.

Zwart bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is ietwat zuur en tevens lichtzoet, vreemde combinatie die me niet kan bekoren. Niet lekker.

Review: Bottle of Petrus Dubbel Bruin Ale Ale: 6.50% ABV Petrus Double Brown Ale is a top-fermented dark beer. Brewed with pure spring water and carefully selected hops and malts. The appearance was of a very dark and deep brown colour with a ruby red tinge, with a lovely creamy white head that sticks around, definitely looks the part, looks great. A very attractive beer! Didn’t notice much lacing, some carbonation. There was quite a strong metallic smell, very strong, with very sour cherry notes, malts, and overall very sweet, can definitely smell the alcohol. Had a pretty strong taste throughout, from start to the end, not much kick in the aftertaste, but having said that it was still very drinkable for me. Sweet tasting, with a lot of sugar, and of malts, cherry, caramel, and plum fruits, Overall I liked this drink, found it very smooth and easy to drink, nicely balanced, and will definitely look out for it again in the future.

Pours deep mahogany colour with a small and quickly fading head. Aroma of caramel and some wood?... not too charming but still allright. The taste, however, was much of a surprise - lots of dried fruits, raisins, caramel and liquour alcohol supported by tons of residual sugars and with an almost complete absence of belgian yeast notes made the beer taste a bit like... barley wine. Maybe the long conditioning made the beer more complex and much better than it usually is or it was me who was in a some supernatural state but - to be completely fair - the one I tried was simply great.

Arômes plutôt fins, floral, agrume, banane. Apparence brune profond.

Bottle. Dark red-brown ale with a decent tan head. Nose is vanilla and caramel. A little banana. In the mouth, it’s quite subtle. I was expecting an alcohol burn from this 6.5, but just get tasty caramels, toffee, and sugars. Very very tasty! Very VERY drinkable.

Zapach z butelki bardzo niewyraźny - słodowy, lekko owocowy. Piana jasnobrązowa, wysoka, drobno i średnio-pęcherzykowa, sycząca, dosyć szybko opada do cienkiego kożuszka. W smaku mocno karmelowe, intensywnie przyprawowe, korzenne, pieprzne. Lekko słodkie, nieco chlebowe. W odczuciu nieco wodniste i pustawe - zdecydowanie brakuje mu pełni. Alkohol na szczęście jest właściwie niewyczuwalny. Goryczka w stylu, czyli właściwie całkowicie jej brak. Czy jest to dubbel? Jest. Choć trzeba przyznać, że mocno zmierza w stronę kwasu chlebowego...
