Dark brown/black in colour with small toffee coloured head. Weird acidic aroma. malty flavour with hint of rasin. Always good for a challenge.

Oct 9, 2008 On tap at the Sharp Edge Brasserie. Brownish cloudy with a decent head. Has a very attractive sour ale or candy olfactory laced with a floral hint of vinegar. Interesting sweet flavor laced with a rather punchy strongish alky background. Not over the top and very unique I may say. Barely any carbonation, nearly flat. Very intriuging session. Even tho it seems to be a little too strong for me, I cannot stop sipping it. Easily drinkable for this attribute. Finish is a little alky bitter but this is mulled over and coverred by the intracasies of the brew. Not bad, a weirdly interesting sweet beer.

Oct 6, 2008 Aroma is malty, bubble gum, slight pepper. Pours a dark ruby brown, thin tan head. Prune, sweetness, burnt fruit. Sweet finish. Palate is thin.

Oct 3, 2008 Bottle from the Belgian Belly in Chorlton, Manchester. Like everything I’ve had from this brewer and this was no exception. Poured very dark brown, with big light brown head. Very drinkable, gone in minutes. Hint of chocolate, dark fruit, prunes and raisins and the like, brown sugar. Decent, little too sweet but I was eating Belgian chocolate with it.

Sep 24, 2008 (330 ml bottle from Bootleggers, part of a Petrus sampler pack) Wow, really good...Pours very dark brown, nearly opaque. One finger of tan head that settles to a thin lasting layer. Rich multi-faceted aroma of chocolate, dark fruit, raisin, port, plum, brown sugar. Smells like a quad! Mouthfeel soft and nearly buttery smooth. Flavor is great - not quite on par with aroma but still very good. Chocolate, light port, dark fruit, brown sugar, raisin. A tinge of sour in the finish was a bit detracting. Very nice beer - seems underrated.

Sep 22, 2008 Tasted 22/09/2008. 330ml bottle from Regional Wines. Pours a ruddy red-brown with a lacy tan head. Sweet caramelised malt on the nose with a little toast, dark fruit, jellied fruit, Christmas cake dough and a hint of sea-spray (dry hop?). Very sweet in the mouth, herb and spice alcohol notes through the middle, a little wood, pleasant lingering bitterness. Very nice, but it’s a little too sweet and falls well short of being special.
