Tap. Amber with one finger head. Very light tartness with quite a bit of citrus. Mild caramel. Subtle or bland -- can’t really decide.

a really tender aroma, mild malt. A strong, bitter flavour from brown, nearly black, caramel, it dominates the taste and stays also in the aftertaste for a while.

The dark counterpart of Petrus Blond and again one of the beers added to the range when it was restyled some years ago. Typical abbey dubbel with yellowish white, very regular, stable foam and very dark burgundy colour, clear. Aroma of candied cherries, elderberry, sweet apple, coffee grounds, liquorice, cinnamon and lots of DMS (red cabbage). Sweet and straightforwardly caramelly taste, candi sugar, retronasal DMS (hate it!) and some soft roasted bitterness in the end - which I do not expect and do not even welcome in a dubbel. Sugary sweetness also cloys, the cheap grassy hops do not have enough power to overcome that. Boring and completely redundant beer. Stick to the sour Petrus beers, guys!
