Top-fermented dark beer brewed with the finest hops and malt varieties. Matured on oaken barrels during 20 months. Serve by preference at 8 to 12 deg. C.

Medium dark reddish brown with fair number of suspended yeast particles. Light tan head is not sluggish but not excitable either. The arom is rose floral, brown sugar, wood and, for some reason that I have no clue of, ketchup. The flavor is clear and reserved with a slight fruitiness (apple?) with a mildly sour finish.

UPDATED: APR 13, 2012 Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy/creamy, light brown, mostly lasting. Body is medium to dark brown. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (caramel, bread, molasses), lightly yeasty (cobwebs), with light notes of raisin, leather, and sherry. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Very dull/bland. There is some promise in the nose, but it’s so mild and limited that it’s impossible to get excited about it. Limp and nearly flavorless in the mouth. It comes off like an interesting beer that has simply been diluted.

Aged in Oak casks for 2 years,this beer comes packaged in the familiar brown 8.4oz bottle with a crimson foil wrap.There was a sourness in the nose that I was expecting from having had the Petrus Aged Pale in the past,but there were hints of nutmeg and citrus there also.A fluffy tan head rose from tiny bubbled carbonation.It had a hazy-chestnut color and left some lace on the glass post sip.A meak sourness and smooth mouthfeel with a drying(oak)follow through.It was a bit thinner than I remember the Aged Pale being,but all in all a non-remarkable sour brown

Oud Bruin, royal color, kings crown with placed marinated cherry on it. Smells better if you leave alone for a sec to gather it self. Flavours of an early night, maltines dancing with red fruits. Intriquing, not bad indeed.

UPDATED: FEB 22, 2003 cloudy & murky spitting slightly musty cherry & lime aromas..a refreshing malt sensation shows signs of cherries and grapes..gassy carbination makes it spritzy..and leaves a subtle soda-like aftertaste..absent is the strong sourness of a sour ale..but a refreshing sample of oud bruin goodness.

Oud Bruin is of an earthy red brown color--blood-stained soil; with a crisp head that diminishes and moderate carbonation. Subtle vinegary (red wine?) emanations carry easily--too bad the flavor is a subtle sour/vinegariness having a light mouthfeel. The essence of flavor escapes across the palate like sand lifted away by a desert wind. Simple, 1 dimensional, and fairly insubstantial for the style--yet, a nice change of pace and not without some enjoyable qualities.

Ruby-red color. No head. Malty aroma. Cherries upon first tasting... This is my first Flander’s Red, but I’m not picking up the vinous trait that should be there... Sour through the finish and refreshing. Like NDmullet said, ’it wasn’t as bold as I expected’.

UPDATED: SEP 26, 2004 Re rate- Medium brown color. Small head. Aroma is malty and fruity, touch of vinous quality. Medium bodied Ale. Malts are fruity and sweet. Touch of sour cherries, yeast and fruit. Seems to have a much milder vinous quality than other beers of this type. Nicely balanced. Smooth taste. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. Possible over the hill bottle. Dark brown color, small head, vinous aroma. Full flavored brown ale, some oak character. Deep malt flavor. Very mild and smooth taste. Mouthfeel is a little thin, expected it to be fuller from the taste. Finish is clean. Aftertaste is vinous and a little malty. Note: There was a lot of soild yucky looking sediments in the bottom of the glass. Old beer or natural for this beer? Need to retaste.
