COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dark ruby red – red as wine. The style is also called the Burgundy of Flanders, and is a very typical and common beer in West Flanders
Created by a secret blend of the aged and sour ‘mother beer’ with fresh brewed sweeter beer, this beer produces a sour-sweet balance, set off by the underlying bitterness of the hops. A discovery! The best in its style! Light in alcohol, exciting complex flavors and tastes come to the forefront.
Although serving cold is recommended, taking time to drink it will release more aromas towards the end of your glass.

my first of this style. pours out a dark brown color, as you can see from the picture to the left. i didnt really know what to expect from this beer as once again, its the first of the style for me, and also because their tripel is lacking in many ways in comparison to st bernardus. all that aside, this is a pretty good beer. surprisingly refreshing and very easy to drink. there is a hint of sourness in it, which made it all the better. cherry and fruity tasting. a pretty good beer.

nice redbrown clear beer with a small head. sour cherrie- like aroma. taste: sweet sourrish, wood notes, fruity, malty. finish leaves to be desired, a pity. mf is thin/medium and a bit fizzy.

Dark reddish brown with slim beige head. Sour aroma. Mild sour cherry taste, with lots of fruit and underlying malts. Moderate carbonation, thin to medium mouthfeel. Pretty good stuff.

Very dark, deep red with a short-lived pale beige head. Cherry, cobwebs and sawdust in the nose. The sourness is tempered by the aging, obviously, making it a very mild drink. After trying Rodenbach, this is a little dull on the palate, but still enjoyable.

Bottle from pintbypint. From a 250 ml bottle best by August 6, 2006. The body is a very dark brown with some ruby highlights. The head on my initial pour is huge. The aroma is sour apples and cherries. There is also some oak. The taste is slightly sour cherries with some dark bread. There is also a little bit of Sprite. A decent beer, but this lacks character. I really like the style, but I want more taste and body.

(Bottle 25 cl) Clear, brown with a reddish hue. Not really sweet, not really sour. More dry with a slight hint of hops in the finish. Light in body and very pleasant and quenching. Spends 20 months in oak vats - that’s a long time indeed. Perhaps one could expect more flavours from that long period of maturing? 070795

On first glance it looks good and smells ok too, but the taste is a real disappointment

Pours a dark ruby red with a small head but very lacy. Smells very very fruity. Sour apple with an underlying sweetness. A bit of malt. Taste is appley and yeasty but a bit watery. Better as it warms. Gets more sour and a bit maltier. Still tastes a bit like watered down Goudenband. Quite thin body and not much aftertaste. This is OK but could be a bit more flavorful.
