Pours brilliant ruby/brown with a medium head that dissappears quickly. Aroma is acidic sour with notes of cherries, oak, sweet caramel, and toasted bread. medium to thin body. Flavor is acidic sour, but not nearly as sharp as the aroma suggests. Lots of cherries, oak, and a lingering sweet caramel finish. good, but not great
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 WillemG (88) - NETHERLANDS - JAN 30, 2011
22-jan-2011. 50cl bottle at beer tasting. Very sour beer, which was a surprise for me (Oud Bruin in Holland tends to be a pretty sweet, low-alcohol type of beer). This was a little too much for me, the smell of vomit was not really my cup of tea. Well, I’d have to retaste this in a couple of years I guess.

1/22/10. Bottle. Red brown pour with a fluffy tan head that sticks. Sweet fruity aroma with big sour vinegar aroma that borders on unpleasant. Sweet malty flavor with caramel and a hint of sweet, vinegar sourness that reminds of balsamic vinegar. Meh.

Draft sample at FS KC. Clear bronze color with a small tan head. Light sour aroma of lacto and caramel. Kinda thin flavor that really trends towards a flemish red. I like it but wish it was more pronounced.

Pours a cloudy dark brown. Substantial head that doesn’t last, mild lacing. Taste is very similar to Dubbel Bruin, much dark fruit, somewhat sour, and one-dimensional. I expected this to be more complex and more palatable.

11.2 oz. bottle-Pours dark ruby red with a 1 finger off white head, aroma is grain and brown sugar with a little raisins. The flavor is smooth and creamy with raisins, cherries and brown sugar. This is really drinkable, mellow and probably the third best tasting out of the variety pack I bought (the dubbel and aged pale ale were my favorite).
