Bottle. Dark red brown with an initially large head. Aromas are woody and malty with some sourness. Cherries and berries are present. Some mustiness and woody taste with some sour, of course.

Pours a nice brown with little head. Nose is clear on oak, with malty taste and woody, slightly sour. Nothing special, but not bad.

UPDATED: NOV 25, 2010 Bottle to flute. Hazy brown with minimal white head, sticky. Nose is acetic, soy. Starts with tartness, moves to wood, sour doesn’t stick around long. A bit thin and watery on the finish. Decent.

Nose is slightly winey, slight cherry notes. On the tongue, has a smooth rich feel without being heavy. Twinges of slight sourness in the beginning, but much less sour than expected. Minor bitterness towards the end. Being a lover of sour ales, this fell slightly short of my expectations.

750 bottle. Pours dark ruby red with a white fading head. Nose of cherries, sugar. Don’t get much barrel aging from this. Taste is cherries, some tartness, and a lingering sweetness. Fades a bit on the end. Body is a bit thin but fluffy.

Not sure if this bottle was quite right. Plenty of typical sour ale notes but there’s a rotten egg note that proves to be very distracting. Not what I would call enjoyable.

Very dark red with minimal off-white head. Aroma is sour raspberries and cherries. Flavor is nutty malts, wood and cherries. Pretty light bodied, mild carbonation. Small slightly-sweet finish.
