3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from Bruges. Pours a deep brown colour. Has a slight sour aroma, but nothing like as strong as you might expect. The flavours are red fruit, and a little malt vinegar. Tastes a little apologetic when compared to other sour beers.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: FEB 3, 2014
330 ml bottle bought at Craftissmo in Tsim Sha Tsui East.
Translucent dark burgundy colour with sticky traces of yeasts ediments; One quarter finger head and beige foam which last for 20 seconds; Moderate sticky lacing with zero carbonation; Quite fragrant tart aroma of malt, with balsamic vinegar, light red wine, oak, light funk, light tannic and thin grass; Light tart and near zero sweet taste of malt, with thin red vinegar, light lactic acid, wood barrel, red grape skin, thin tannic, light liquorices and notable bitter grass; Light body, thin and astringent palate; Mouth feel is thin, slightly water-down basic Sour Brown, not much fruity esters, and the light touches of lactic, vinegar, funk and oak barrel make their presence felt. Okay… Hoppiness is faint grass nose, and pretty sharp liquorices and grassy taste. Bitterness is unusually strong, for a lasting astringent and sour finish; Slightly dry after taste; Slightly sour and quite bitter to mouth.
Comments: For an Oud Bruin, this one is kinda basic, keeping the slight lacto sourness and wood barrels aroma and taste, but beyond that it’s not really exciting. It’s also unusually hoppy for the style. Not exactly an easy ride, I can barely say okay to this one, and not something I look forward again.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20
Appearance: medium cola brown with a creamy medium tan head that shrinks to a collar, with spotty, tight-bubbled lacing. Aroma: very fruity nose, with sour cherry, raspberry, and grape juice; under that some brown sugar and balsamic vinegar. Taste: medium-light sour tartness, with flavors of woody green apples, sour cherries, black currants, and sweet malts (brown bread, caramel). Finish: slightly dry and relatively lively with carbonation. Notes: As others have noted, a fine introductory sour, where the initial sour tartness is restrained and the sweetish fruit notes are more prominent. Very easy-drinking palate. Refreshing.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Nice entry level sour as it is only slightly sour and has a thin effervescent body that while good is a bit on the thin side. Good Belgian funk and a tart sour fruit finish...an easy drinking Belgian.

1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
33cl bottle @ home. Dark brown color, strong beige head. Aroma champagne, grapes, caramel, fruits, haribo. Taste light sweetness, lightly bitter, heavily sour. Medium body, dry, average carbonation, short sour finish. Quite sour almost like wine or shit, don’t like at all, as I don’t like sour beer or spirits, but probably good one for those who like this style.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle from Bruges. Lovely dark brown colour. Sour cherries on the nose. Quite a mild sour taste and fizzy in comparison to the other sour browns I’ve tried.
