3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 womencantsail (3572) - Home of Rebecca Black, California, USA - FEB 15, 2010
A: The beer pours a dark brown with a slight reddish tint. There is a thin layer of white foam.
S: The primary aroma is roasted malt. This is followed by a slight lactic acid scent and a decent combination of barnyard funk and oak.
T: I have not had too many beers of this style, so I was a bit unsure as to what I should expect. There is definite Brown ale character initially, along with a lactic zing. It is more sweet than sour, with lots of roasted malt and mild oak coming through. On the finish there are slight notes of dark fruits.
M: This beer features plentiful carbonation and a dry mouthfeel, which is something I really enjoy.
D: Moderate alcohol and an effervescent mouthfeel make this beer very drinkable. The flavors and aromas are good, but not great, so I doubt I will have this again at nearly $4 for a 330ml bottle.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 TheHulk (479) - Lethbridge, Alberta, CANADA - FEB 2, 2010
Smells dark and thick, more like malt than beer. Dark but clear, hardly any head, only minimal lacing. Dark and malty on flavour, there is a lot of berries on the after flavour. A bit too much alcohol prescence. Smooth and creamy, but not too exciting on the swallow. Not bad, but a bit of an unusual blend of flavours - this seems more like a beer experiment than a true beer.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 HomeBrewHawk (421) - De Soto, Kansas, USA - JAN 30, 2010
11.2oz. bottle served in a new style Boulevard Chalice. Bottle conditioned. Brown with some red highlights. Sparse head. Not a lot of carbonation. Fruity aroma with some cherry. A bit of acetic sourness in the nose as well. Fairly sweet in the flavor however. More dark fruit and some caramel. Just a hint of sourness. A little metallic in the finish to start, but this faded. Didn’t get much wood flavor. This didn’t do a whole lot for me.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 daknole (5474) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - JAN 26, 2010
Opened with my petrus opener, poured into my petrus glass, am I getting petrusfied? Live rate! Reddish brown pour. Small tannish head. Aroma is a bit tart with some vinegar, wet wood and light caramel notes. Flavor is close to being really, really good but it just seems to be a bit thin and watery. The light sourness and vinegar notes are nice...the bit of fruit and sweetness is nice too. But it just lacks some punch.

33 cl bottle, Fargo, ND, USA. Ruby hued brown colour, very little head (perhaps because of my bad pour). Slightly sour aroma with some faint meatiness in the background. Lively, bright flavor with an earthy sourness creeping in at the end. Sweet finish at the back of the throat.

Bottle Pours out a dark brown with some red highs topped with a small tan head. Aroma is of pitfruit, sweet cherries, and light malt. Taste more of the pitfruit and sweetness. A little bitter on the end. Not much of a sour.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Barreras (368) - Diamond Bar, California, USA - JAN 15, 2010
UPDATED: JAN 17, 2011 Pours a dark red brown color. Aroma of tart fruit with a caramel taste. A surprisingly light tasting brown ale. A very refreshing beer with a smooth finish. Slight oak and caramel taste. A beer I would order again and again.
