Dark ruby red – red as wine. The style is also called the Burgundy of Flanders, and is a very typical and common beer in West Flanders
Created by a secret blend of the aged and sour ‘mother beer’ with fresh brewed sweeter beer, this beer produces a sour-sweet balance, set off by the underlying bitterness of the hops. A discovery! The best in its style! Light in alcohol, exciting complex flavors and tastes come to the forefront.
Although serving cold is recommended, taking time to drink it will release more aromas towards the end of your glass.

Bottle. Pours a clear sparkling ruby red with big creamy beige head, nearly disappears. Aroma is bready, malt, some tart berries, light citrus and slight paper. Taste is fresh, fruity berries, light sour, dry bit tart finish with light light toast. Fizzy carbonation but thin body. Boring

O retrogosto é frutado, adocicado e levemente azedo.

I know gold when I drink it. Almost feel the oak in the tongue. Dark, yet subtle to palate. Go for it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Classic ’oud bruin’ matured in oak barrels for 24 months. Deep copper brown colour under a thinnish, pale beige head. Aroma dominated by sour fruits (redcurrant, lemon hint, starfruit), a bit vinegary, woody touch but in all, less complex than e.g. Rodenbach. Same for the taste: passion fruit, red berries, wine vinegar sourishness, candi sugar, sweet caramelly malts and some wood hints in the finish. I think Bavik would please beer afficionados with a fully ’old’ or more authentic edition, like Rodenbach does with their Vintage series. For now: quite okay as an honest and accessible introduction to this underrated and disappearing beer tradition.

Shared at the BFD Christmas Party, thanks to who ever brought it. Tart fruit and light brown sugar light vanilla and earthy woodiness. Great brew, I’m surprised I haven’t rated this before.
