3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Strykzone (2906) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - MAR 25, 2011
Dark brown with a nice tan head that lasts nicely. Aromas of vanilla, yeast, and Belgian yeast fruit. Flavor is very understated everything is mild. Call this a Type B personality beer. Wood notes, that Belgian yeast fruit again, and with temperature some dark cherries and prunes. I wish this had more going on but it makes for a nice gateway into sours.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Finhead (654) - OFallon, Illinois, USA - MAR 23, 2011
A clear, dark, reddish-brown pour with a tan head. The aroma reminds me of sourdough bread mixed with some green apples. The medium body has average carbonation. The taste is lightly sweet with a sourness that builds into the sip. The finish leaves the tongue and tastebuds tingling and begging for another sip. I’m surprised at how much I like this beer.

Bottle @ Falling rock, Denver. Pours brown, no head. Aroma is mainly sour with cherries, vanilla and oak. Taste is more sweet than aroma would predict, some cherries, vanilla, little oak, sugar. Thin body, low carbonation. 260211

2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20 crossovert (2547) - Wisconsin, USA - MAR 6, 2011
11.2 oz bottle, cheap stuff.
Pours a nice brownish red, slightly clear with some nice carbonation bubbles rising. The head is large and off-white and sticks for a bit before leaving nice lacing.
The smell is pretty fruity, mostly cherries. There is a slight vinegar smell as well. No real sign of the oak.
The mouthfeel is watery, seems like most Petrus brews are. The taste is light, with some metallic notes. There is also some tart cherry.
This one along with monk’s Cafe are utterly forgettable examples of this style.

Redbrown, small head, maybe served too cold (from garage), aroma has some red fruits, like grapes and berries. Also in the taste some red fruit, berries. Smooth drinkable beer, very tiny bitterness, with a light fizzling mouthfeeling. Medium body, nice with that percentage of alcohol.

Bottle from drowland. My favorite style! What a guy! Or was it what a gay? I always confuse my vowels. Pours a dark reddish orange color with a foamy white head. Aroma is big sour fruit, tart notes and heavy wood. Apple/grape tartness. Sour flavor. Sharp sour notes with some fruity elements. Finishes acidic.
