The aroma is powerful; sour and acidic with notes of sweetness and sharpness. The color is deep red, almost brown and it has a fine light brown head, though fast disappearing. The flavor is sweet, wellbalanced and round - the sharpness must have been taken by the oak-casks. But the sharpness lies hidden. A fantastic flavor, though a little thin in the middle before it starts prickling the tongue.

(Bottle 25 cl) Clear, brown with a reddish hue. Not really sweet, not really sour. More dry with a slight hint of hops in the finish. Light in body and very pleasant and quenching. Spends 20 months in oak vats - that’s a long time indeed. Perhaps one could expect more flavours from that long period of maturing? 070795

25 cL bottle at DHVL, 1992 vintage. Pours clear and golden deep amber with a small off-white head. Dry and wooden initial aroma, followed by a brown sugarish and raisin sweet note. Somewhat oxidised. Flavour is dry malty, subdued metallic and towards dry breadish. Dry malty finish with a light yeasty fruity accent. Nice to find yet clearly over the top and flavour has none of the sweetness the aroma promised.

I sampled the 1996 version in 2001. Brownish red apperance, not much head. Slighty acidic, mild and soft with hint of cask character. Refreshing and complex.

Bottle, 5.5%. The aroma is clearly metallic. Cloudy dark brown colour, red shine. Small light brown aroma. The flavour is slightly malty with a faint acidity. Tastes OK, but I would have liked it sweeter and more acidic.
