3.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A nice strong head accompanies this ale as it is poured. It takes a long time to settle, too. A nice even brown color. A light touch of malt with a bit of a tart attitude assails the nostrils. The tartness is proved by the light sourness on the palate. A really nice easy drinking refresher of an aged ale.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Brown with ruby hints, not much head. Oak, cherry, apples and cheese aroma. Woody flavor, a hint of caramel, and maybe some mushrooms. Tart but I expected a bit more because of the aroma. Thank you Todd for the beer and hospitality.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at the Red Monk in Des Moines. Pours a dark brown with a hint of red, and a fluffy head. Aroma is of sour fruits and vinegar, with a malty, biscuity base and a hint of yeastiness. The flavor is similar, with a sweet, malty base, then a very fruity and slightly vinegarry flavor. The palate is good, not overcarbonated.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: AUG 20, 2012 pours a nice dark red color from an 11oz bottle. Some head that stays for a little bit.
Good aromas, though not the most complex sour. Cherries, red apples, funk tones and a bit of asian spices. Decent depth, but nothing that blows you away.
lighter bodied and lacking a bit in the flavor category. Mostly cherries and some red apples with a touch of acidity to it as well.
This is a straightforward sour. Solid, but leaving me wanting for a bit more.

Ruby-red color. No head. Malty aroma.
Cherries upon first tasting...
This is my first Flander’s Red, but I’m not picking up the vinous trait that should be there...
Sour through the finish and refreshing.
Like NDmullet said, ’it wasn’t as bold as I expected’.

Bottle at beerbistro. Brown, slightly sour, but also sweet. I’m not sure I was a fan of the sweet ending in a sour beer, usually the sour aftertaste is what I crave. Was not a bad beer, but not really my thing.

Pours reddish brown, good sized tan head. Sourish malty aroma. The flavor is slighlty tart, moreso at the finish than upfront. Very nice mouthfeel.

It reminded me of Goudenband flemish sour. It had a wood to mellow dry flavor about it, and was medium in carbonation. Nice brown to semi-reddish coloration. This was something I did enjoy but could not drink in large numbers.
