COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dark ruby red – red as wine. The style is also called the Burgundy of Flanders, and is a very typical and common beer in West Flanders
Created by a secret blend of the aged and sour ‘mother beer’ with fresh brewed sweeter beer, this beer produces a sour-sweet balance, set off by the underlying bitterness of the hops. A discovery! The best in its style! Light in alcohol, exciting complex flavors and tastes come to the forefront.
Although serving cold is recommended, taking time to drink it will release more aromas towards the end of your glass.

Pours off brown, maybe mahogany with head that does not retain for long. Sour fruit, maybe passsion fruit and cherry, are dominant on the nose. palate is medium sourness with a lot of passion fruit. Light bodied and somewhat medicinal, but still rather thin for what I was expecting. Finish has unpleasant sour funk. sour should be good, but is funky here.

Nice entry level sour as it is only slightly sour and has a thin effervescent body that while good is a bit on the thin side. Good Belgian funk and a tart sour fruit finish...an easy drinking Belgian.

Solid dark sour ale. The level of crisp tartness is such that this could be a good into to the style - not as harsh as others. The vinous (red grape) malting has some elements of my favorite Abt-syles (St. Bernardus and others). There is a lot to this beer, nnone of which is overdone. The only extreme is the amount of plegm it produces.

A reddish brown hue with medium lasting beige head on the pour. Some mild lacing. Aroma of sweet sour tart fruit, a bit of sour grapes, some caramel malt, oak cask and vanilla notes. Taste has some oaky sour grapes almost like a red wine flavor, some malt as well. Palate is a medium body, smooth, with sweet sour and tart flavors on the tongue, with some touched of caramel malt and vanilla. Finishes with a sweet tart slightly sour grapes and fruity notes, yeast, some oak vanilla, slightly tangy notes and caramel malt. Overall a nice combination of sweet, tart and sour fruitiness and good malt balance. A very nice flavorful and drinkable brew.

Drank in a sniffer. Sticky small brownish head with a nice dark brown poor. Aromas of green apples, pears and balsamic vinegar... You can feel the aromas of the oak aging. Flavors of raspberries, sour apples, a little bit dissapointing. Missing to the palate as well. Slight aftertaste of caramel.

On tap at Novare Res. Whoa, didn’t expect a sour to taste this good to be honest! Pours a golden brown with an off white head. Aromas are dark malts, hints of sourness like apples, and some caramels. Flavor is crisp, clean, and sweet. The finish is a little sour, but not too sour as to be unpleasant.

Donker bruin met rode glans, licht bruine schuimkraag. Neus, zurig, krieken, vanille. Smaak is aangenaam zurig, hout, beetje oaky. Finish is fris & droog, zurig maar niet extreeem. mooi gebalanceerd, goeie Oud Bruin

Described as "Ouid Bruin" = Old Dark, top-fermented. Really very nice, and it was dark with a bit of a sweet taste. My first Belgian, I believe, and it’s true, they are like nothing else.

Bottle. Pours a nice ruby-brown with a quickly thinning tan head. Aroma is tart fruit, mainly cherry and apple. Flavor is tart fruits (mainly cherry) mixed with some brown-sugary malt. A bit sweet for a sour ale, but also quite acidic, which cuts that nicely. Surprisingly refreshing on the whole.
