Dark ruby red – red as wine. The style is also called the Burgundy of Flanders, and is a very typical and common beer in West Flanders
Created by a secret blend of the aged and sour ‘mother beer’ with fresh brewed sweeter beer, this beer produces a sour-sweet balance, set off by the underlying bitterness of the hops. A discovery! The best in its style! Light in alcohol, exciting complex flavors and tastes come to the forefront.
Although serving cold is recommended, taking time to drink it will release more aromas towards the end of your glass.

Pours a clear brown color with a tiny white head that fades to nothing and small amount of lacing. Aroma is cherry, vinegar, and a little bit of malt. The aroma is a little weak. The taste is a typical brown ale with some of those familiar sour tastes but it’s very thin and watery. It’s an ok beer but it’s boring.

Bottle. A - Deep redish brown with a good sized beige head. Retention is decent and has pretty good lacing. S - Sour dark fruits (a lot of it cherry and grape like). Also a decent amount of malt sweetness. These together give it kind of a sweetened tart/sour smell with tart/sour winning. Also slight oaky smell. T - Follows the smell a lot. Again sour/tart flavors come predominately from dark cherry and grape, and are edging out the sweetness from the malt. The tart/sour is the feature but the malt comes in slightly after to keep it in check. I would describe it as starting off more vinegar like then the malt comes in and it is more tart juice like. Throughout there is an oaky aspect to the beer, but it never fully develops or is prominent; rather it is more of a persistent subtle background flavor. All together, it seems a little watery though. M - Somewhere between medium and light body and with a decent amount of carbonation. Crisp taste. D - Decent, the sour/tartness isn’t too overpowering and the body is good. Not exactly the most refreshing beer to drink and much better suited for sipping. Wouldn’t drink too many in one sitting, but I could see myself drinking more in the future. Notes: Pretty good as far as balancing the tartness. If you want a lot of oakiness, there are probably better choices, it’s always there but never outstanding. I liked this, it just seemed a little watered down flavor wise.

This one certainly looks good - dark red-brown with a lovely foamy head. I couldn’t make out much of a scent. Flavor was much like fizzy water. Palate is like a diet sprite. An overall disappointment.

Dark brown color with cream-coloured head. Metallic flavour. Taste malt, wood and fresh fruit. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Nice entry level sour as it is only slightly sour and has a thin effervescent body that while good is a bit on the thin side. Good Belgian funk and a tart sour fruit finish...an easy drinking Belgian.

A deep brown beer with reddish hues and a decent head of foam. Notes of candi sugar, yeast, and a light tartness in the smell. Some of the brown ale hits my palate to start. Followed by a wee bit of the candi sugar, yeast, and a very mild sour taste or two. Light body and lots of carbonation make for a so so mouthfeel.

It’s like liquid Sweet Tarts®. This stuff will get your gal power-drunk since it has none of the beer qualitites we all love. This will straighten her angles and solve her problems. Delicious stuff. Like a La Folie Light.

Sour almost vinegar, oak, musty deep reddish-brown, garnet(finally found a use for that word)...very little foam. acidic sweet tanginess in the finish, not a lot of malt, but a bit! enjoyable lingering taste??? You gotta like the funk/acid to like this beer. I'd like to use it in a sauce...

This year's vintage is especially oud bruin-like. It has an excellent acitity combined with a rich malt backbone and is rather clean for an oud bruin.
