COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dark ruby red – red as wine. The style is also called the Burgundy of Flanders, and is a very typical and common beer in West Flanders
Created by a secret blend of the aged and sour ‘mother beer’ with fresh brewed sweeter beer, this beer produces a sour-sweet balance, set off by the underlying bitterness of the hops. A discovery! The best in its style! Light in alcohol, exciting complex flavors and tastes come to the forefront.
Although serving cold is recommended, taking time to drink it will release more aromas towards the end of your glass.

Brown body with red highlights when held up to the light. Small head of tightly packed small off white bubbles. Sour cherries in the aroma and some fresh green apples. Understated sour flavor some hints of cherries and a bit of maltiness. Some woody flavors as it warms.. Rather thin on the palate and fairly bubbly.

Very "polite" sour ale. Medium bodied, reddish-brown. The acetic aroma could be more perceptible. Initially nice frothy head after several minutes descends completely. Dark fruits in taste with some sour flavour. Overall nice beer but nothing special.

Tap @ ECT. Clear, deep red-brown pour with a brief, short beige head which fades quickly toa rim and leaves spotty lace. Nose is cardboard and a hint of tart fruit - cherries. Nedium body, with moderate, fine carbonation. Black cherries, brown sugar, apples, a bit of woody umami. Finush is short and sugary. Not spicy, sour/wild or complex like the better Oud Bruins, tastes like an average Oud Bruin blended with malt extract.

330ml bottle. Snifter. Deep amber or mahogany with a thin head. Aroma was of sour cherries and malt. Taste was quite sour with notes of green apples and vinegar. Thin mouthfeel. This one isn’t for me.

Murky brown with a small tan head. Aroma of fermented cherries and prunes. Caramel, fruit, and a woodsy dryness in the flavor. Gueuze-like sourness in the finish.

Sampled at Stone’s Sour Festival, July 2007. poured brown (or bruin, en vlaams) with a deent beige head. Malty aroma with some sour funk. And intersting mix of sour, sweet, malt and spicy, but not all together great. An interesting brew, but no the best that Belgium has to offer.

Basic reddish-brown bubbly tan headed beer with moderately obvious wooded cherry aromas combining with balsamic and some mustiness. Flavour doesn’t carry forth and is not nearly complex enough for my liking - there is a bit of soft sour cherry but overall it feels a little uninspired.

Hazy brown color, half-inch head that didn't lace the glass. Not much aroma, a little yeast and fruit (I think it was served too cold). Initial sour, malt flavor with some blackberriy hints. As the beer warmed, chocolate and dried cherry flavors emerged. Medium body with a sour, dry finish. This was my first sour ale and I thought it was quite good.
