Dark ruby red – red as wine. The style is also called the Burgundy of Flanders, and is a very typical and common beer in West Flanders
Created by a secret blend of the aged and sour ‘mother beer’ with fresh brewed sweeter beer, this beer produces a sour-sweet balance, set off by the underlying bitterness of the hops. A discovery! The best in its style! Light in alcohol, exciting complex flavors and tastes come to the forefront.
Although serving cold is recommended, taking time to drink it will release more aromas towards the end of your glass.

Thanks to akevitt for sharing. Pours a red-brown body with off white, bubbly head. Oaky aroma with dark fruit and sour apple. Apple juice-like mouthfeel; a tad thin in the middle of the palate. Light, sour apple flavor with some oak and a hint of vinegar. Clean finish.

Not as good as the Rodenbach Red, but a good alternative when the US’s supply is cut off.

Highly refreshing beverage with a gentle acidity and tartness on top of a solid malt foundation. Not very high in flavor but light and easy on the palate.

Dark brown pour with a thick, lasting beige head. Aroma of vinegar, brown sugar, and sweet fruit. Smooth and easy drinking. Sweet-sour flavor. The caramel sweetness is bookended by vinegar and tart cherry. Only mildly puckering. A good brew.

11.2 oz bottle poured into a tulip glass. Pours a nearly opaque dark brown with red highlights and a big head that dissipates quickly with not much lacing. Aroma is sour cherries and brown sugar. Taste is slightly tart with sour cherries and then sweet with toffee and brown sugar.

Pours ruby brown. Musty aroma of oak and berries. Has a tart fruity flavor but it isn’t overwhelmingly tart like some beers of this style. I like how this beer manages to have the characteristics of a Oud Bruin without being too much. Oak characteristics shine through.

Pours a dark amber color with a foamy head leaving a little bit of sticky lacing. Smells funky. Sour, overripe fruit: apples, pears, plums and grapes. Taste is pretty good, sour fruit, wood, and even a cola like flavor mixed in there as well. Light body, moderate carbonation, very dry. Cloyingly dry in the finish which really hurts this, it could be much better otherwise.

I’m a sucker for a good sour ale, and I enjoyed this one. Not overpowering, but well balanced and clean.

A very interesting brew. Has an amber hue in the glass with a garnet colored head. Literally the hed was slightly purple or red. Awesome. Smells like rusty iron and grapes. Immediately able to taste the oak aging. The oak flavor runs papery and smooth across your tongue. Also tastes like red wine. Aftertaste. Mediciney and rusted. Good brew very drinkable. grat
