COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dark ruby red – red as wine. The style is also called the Burgundy of Flanders, and is a very typical and common beer in West Flanders
Created by a secret blend of the aged and sour ‘mother beer’ with fresh brewed sweeter beer, this beer produces a sour-sweet balance, set off by the underlying bitterness of the hops. A discovery! The best in its style! Light in alcohol, exciting complex flavors and tastes come to the forefront.
Although serving cold is recommended, taking time to drink it will release more aromas towards the end of your glass.

A little sweet and I would rather have a Duchess any day over this. Fruity and a nice example of an Flemish Sour Ale. Page 362 of Michael Jackson’s Great Beer Guide and only 297 of his Classic 500 Brews to go.

Przeciętny do potęgi, ale dający się wypić sour. Można wypić, ale w pamięć na trwałe się nie wryje.

Aroma is sour and has plenty of oak overtones. Flavor has a good amount of woodyness and the flavor is less sour than the nose would have predicted. A decent beer with unique characteristics.

Mostly transparent red/amber, single finger head, hardly lasting. Aromas of fruit syrup and alcohol. Flavor was of dark berries (rasp, straw, black), slight sourness, but not as sweet as it sounds. Nice mouthfeel, and good looking lacing.

Butelka, warka lidlowa do 23/02/17.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle and was a nice dark brown color, not at all hazy. There was a good carbonation, but no head on the beer, not sure if that is common for sour ales, possibly because I used a pilsner glass instead of a snifter. There was a pleasing aroma, but it was nothing exciting. Mostly malty, sweet, fruity with maybe some hints of cherries. The flavor was outstanding, just wonderful and complex. There was a very nice well rounded sourness with hints of cherry and chocolate, that blended well with a very subtle hop presence. There were times when the bitterness stood out more than others, mostly as the beer warmed toward the middle of the glass. The beer started out very mellow and balanced, moved toward bitter then finished out sweet. I even went back to the bottle and finished the dregs. The beer feels comfortable in my mouth like it should be there. The alcohol is barely present, which at 5.5% is deceiving. What an awesome beer, I’ll definately come back to this beer again. I haven’t had too many sour ales, but this is an excellent beer. I think this would make an awesome beer for anyone looking to get more into sour ales...a starter beer.
