Pours ruby with a 3-4 finger off-white head. The aroma is oaky malty, with nuts, bourbon, brown sugar, port, merlot, and some funk. This tastes initially like a slightly sweet Flemish sour, but gains a solid merlot flavor profile and palate feel, coupled with some oaky malts and berries. Very nice.

Pours deep burgundy with a thin tan head. Aroma of funky brett, cherries, leather, and barnyard fruitiness. Taste is cherry, plum, nutty toasted malts, and oak. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with soft carbonation. Finish is pleasantly acidic with a restrained sourness. I wasn’t sure I’d ever like a sour beer. This brew is delicious, and has changed my mind.

Itís like taking a good belgian dubbel and mixing it half and half with your favorite flemish sour ale. It definitely had sour notes, but it also got chocolatey, malty and even a little bitter at the finish. Itís a VERY complex beer.

Appearance: clear deep rich mahogany and ruby port hues. Little to no head with an off white collar. Small puddle in the middle and swirls thicker along the sides.
Nose: soured grapes, granny smith apples, and a hint of aged rum. Red apple skins caramelized with pure cane sugar granules. Sauvignon Blanc followed by red grapes and old woods polished and worn.
Palate: little sweet, little tart, little frothy. Gentle burnished old woods and mahogany essence. Dry in the back and finish with old wood. Cherries, rhubarb, apple orchards with the apples still hanging off the branches. Seeded grapes. Bit of pitted dark fruit meatiness right in the middle, very short lived but packs a punch. Would pair well the right cigar.
Final Thoughts: beer meets port meets wood meets my tender loving tastebuds. Delicious, divine, and inspired by olden times.

Rich reddish brown with a tan head, medium retention. Light aromas of tart cherries, very little malt aroma, no hops present. Very crisp and light, leaves your mouth watering. Flavors are subtly tart cherries with the slightest sweetness and barely noticeable bitterness for balancing. Not the most tart Oud Bruin youíll find, but itís very drinkable and has no noticeable faults. A great introduction into sours.

11.2 oz. bottle-Pours dark ruby red with a 1 finger off white head, aroma is grain and brown sugar with a little raisins. The flavor is smooth and creamy with raisins, cherries and brown sugar. This is really drinkable, mellow and probably the third best tasting out of the variety pack I bought (the dubbel and aged pale ale were my favorite).

Hazy brown, huge but loose head, thick puddle in the middle, leaves huge chunky Belgian Lace. Aroma is very fruity, mostly green apples and lemon. The aroma of the yeast is instantly recognizable, it smells like a lambic. Flavor starts out with a quick hit of vinegar like acidity, them warm sweet malts, then a very pleasant fruity acidity. Try to imagine a malty tasting cider. A lot of apples on the palate, giving it a sweet and sour finish. As I get to the bottom of my glass there is still some major lacing sticking to the top of the glass. Overall itís very complex, and also helped me to better understand the flavors of Belgian Lambics, the tie in of the distinctive yeast flavor is very evident.

Aroma: A beautiful earth and wood aroma, smells a bit like the garden after rain. Appearance: Enticing hazy dark brown body, with a well formed, soft tan head. Taste: Mild tartness, with a good level of malt. The oak pokes itís head through enough to be noticeable. Palate: Light bodied, but fills the mouth with an initial softness that is soon overtaken by a dryness that is very welcome. Overall: Gorgeous, I love this beer with every sip.

Oak raisin plum. Pours dark with frothy head. Tastes of red wine. Carbonated evident. Complex and unique. Some bitterness. Very good ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
