Murky brown. Sweet, fruity nose. A bit watery and thinnish on the palate, but not too bad. Smells much better than it tastes. Rather salty in the middle, and a bit in the finish too. Not a drain pour, but didn't do much for me.

Nice head and beutiful color. Lacks the fruity sourness of the other Belgian sour ales. Flat dry finish.

Clear ruby brown body with a sticky off-white head. Aroma is balsamic with almost no barrel character though which annoys me when you display them on the label. Bready, yeasty. Taste is a little bland, very short aftertaste, restrained sourness and a little empty. I came close to writing plastic also, but that's pushing it far. Bitter finish, medium body, creamy and biting, too much actually. This may be the only unremarkable beer of the day, but trust me that you're in for something with their aged pale!

Bottle, undated purchased out of a cooler from Hop and Leaf, Knoxville, TN Feb 2005. Good ruddy strawberry-amber pour, with some darker orange-caramel shades and a moderate amount of off-white head. Aroma of sweet toffee, lightly tart yeast and brett, with pleasantly balanced hints of oak and some sweet butter-cream. Flavor begins on a wonderful tart yeast note, with oak and malt well integrated. Unfortunately, the beer dies off quickly after the initial flavor, getting horribly thin, very watery and losing any tartness. Finishes with some sticky caramel mixed with water, lightly sweet oak and sugar. Arg, why does it just die off?? Watery mouthfeel, low to moderate carbonation.

Bottle. Pours a clear bubbly dark reddish-brown with a small diminishing light-brown head. The slightly sour and woodsy aroma of malt, fruit, spices and alcohol was not much to my liking. The flavour follows the aroma and is also quite sour but not in a good way, there’s something "off" about the sour taste -- I found myself wondering if I had a bad bottle but then I remembered it was like this last time I tried it as well. Mouthfeel was thin. Flemish Sour Ales are not my favourite kind of beer to start with but there are so many better ones than this one, I think my rating is fair as this beer is mediocre at best.

Extra in a trade... Out of the 11.2oz into a flute. Pours redish brown w/ little to no head. Smells of Juniper & pine. Flavor leaves much to be desired. A little funky, but not sour in the slightest. Thin mouth-feel. Not the ’key to heaven’ I was expecting. No thanks

dark ruby pour with a off white head. Aroma is dusty oak with some fruity sweetness. Flavor follows through, not much sour going on in this one. Just sort of falls flat on the finish.
