3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 ryan (2959) - Beltsville, Maryland, USA - JAN 22, 2008
Hazy, light amber with a large, frothy off-white head. Decent head retention with a good amount of lace. Bready, doughy nose with lots of vienna-like malt, hints of pear, grapes and honey. The flavor is very lightly sweet, just lightly bitter with floral and herbal hops, light caramel, dough and golden raisins. Medium/light body is round with moderate carbonation. Very quaffable. Could pass as a Belgian style octoberfest. Not a world beater, but I can’t figure out these super low scores for the life of me.

bottle labeled petrus special ale with a green label poured a rich amber color with a thick layer of white froth that became a thin layer that stayed. aroma is milder, malt caramel sweetness, cinnamon, nutmeg, and apple. hits the tongue with a light feel, apple is stronger here, sweet malt, and finishes with carbination and some yeast. cant believe this is rated so low (2.88 now) it is a little thin and not as full of flavor as the others i have tried by them but respectable none the less.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 shalloWMeans (160) - Independence, Kentucky, USA - NOV 15, 2007
3rd beer at Barleycorns beer tasting. Started with a couple mild English pints, and now moving on to the slightly heavier Belgians. This one was hazy amber, copper red, with a fluffy white, short-lived head. Aroma is very complex, hints of apple, cinammon, and corianer dominate the aroma, with a light winey lingering scent. The taste is full of stone fruits: apricots, plums, peach, and even some grapefruit bitterness. Spicy, with a great bitter balance. Overall, this is a fun beer to drink, and definitely saved my opinion of Petrus’ brews after a devastating experience with the Oud Bruin.
3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 GreatLibations (1771) - Last Supper, Arizona, USA - NOV 14, 2007
An interesting brew. Pours a hazey rusted apricot color with a shallow froth that settles to a fine, dusty canopy and a full ring. Mild aromas of malted carrot cake and sour grapes. Medium nectar with ample residual effers. It’s on the sour side of the spectrum w/o being obtrusive. Bitter stonefruit pit’s, tree bark, sour grapes, green peaches, wild green apples with a touch of rocky minerals. The finish is bittered to parchment but rather satisfying. Overall: if you like sour beer you’ll find enjoyment here.

Pours a clear apricot-amber with a small layer of foam, great lacing, and an aroma of sudsy hops, green grapes, and dry white wine. Flavour is lightly sweet with more green grape and a soft, dry and slightly tart finish. Carbonation is soda-pop-esque, body is creamy but dry to finish. This is a very pleasant beer, much better than their Oud Bruin. Would accompany food very well.

Bottle. Clear light to medium amber orange color with a average, fizzy, good / fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, bread, øllebrød [danish dish made of bread, sugar, and non alcoholic beer]. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average duration. Body is light to medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. (190907)
2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 BückDich (5468) - McCall, Idaho, USA - OCT 8, 2007
Bottle: Orange copper color, nice puffy off-white head, some spotty lacing. Nose of light aromatic malts, but no dough, toast nor biscuit. The flavor a bit yeasty, some bright apple peel and grass. Somewhat thin and lightly hoppy. Not too belgian either.
