3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
My Bottom Line:
This unusual, light Tripel’s combination of whispering tart fruitiness and simple bready yeast was initially unsettling, yet the appropriate mouthfeel and high drinkability factor eased it into the realm of enjoyment after a few sips. This one does not aim for mind-expanding complexity.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-Ample foam dwindles into the lightly hazy blond.
-The fluffy carbonation and decent maltiness create a efficient, pleasurable mouthfeel.
-White pepper spiciness decorates the fruity esters.
-A dusty, chalky, sulphuric note bothers the overall flavor profile.
Bottle; no date.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This beer was delicious. Hazy gold pour with 2 to 3-finger, foamy white head. Nice aroma of spicy floral citric notes, along with some tart fruit and barnyard essences. The mouthfeel was bold and complex, with tastes of floral dry citrus, hops, and acrid malts. Nice balance and complexity. This one is a great trippel.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
UPDATED: JUN 1, 2004 2nd bottle: Better than the first but still kind of bizarre. Hmmm... 1st bottle: lightly hazy yellow with a very nice billowy white head. Getting some really strange flavours out of this one. That don’t taste like the flavours that would indicate it is off but are not entirely pleasant. I have a second bottle so hopefully it will be more up to snuff.

33 cl bottle as "Petrus Gouden Tripel", on April 25, 2009 at Bredaryds Wärdshus
Hazy pale golden color, fluffy white head. Acidic and some apple scent. Acidic, yeasty, alcohol taste. Spritzy mouthfeel, low bitterness.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottled. Poured cloudy, milky golden with a colossal cap of yellowy-beige head. The aroma picked up a blend of floral notes and white spices over sweet pale malts and pear meat.. lots more artificially-sweetened fruits and Sweet Tarts as it warmed up. The flavor found pale and fruity malts at the core, with Sweet Tart-like fruits and lesser white spices throughout.. tart finish with fruit skins over pale, grainy malts. Medium-bodied and tangy through the palate.. too much carbonation.. overall OK, but no real great components.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
330ml bottle bought at Luvians in St Andrews when I could not find more Scottish beers to drink. Very lively when open – only half of the content found its way to the glass. When it finally settled the body colour could be described as hazy golden with a thin, white head. Aroma of spicy malts and late fruits. Tangerine fruits in flavour, joined by yeasty hops and liquorice sweetness. Medium bodied. Sweet, bit still decent drinkability [09.11.2008].

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
This beer kind of strikes me as a "beginner’s Belgian". Pours a cloudy dark yellow color with a thick and foamy white head. Decent lacing. Champagne-like aroma with some fruit and yeast. Medium-bodied with a pleasantly fruity flavor, along with some yeast, pepper and light hops. The finish is citrusy and lightly spiced. The beer is well done, and despite not being very complex it is a pretty tasty brew.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: MAR 8, 2008 Lagery gold with a steady bead and rocky white head. Lacy smooth maltiness. Sweet but a little boring. A distant tang of metal. Silky mouthfeel. But essentially just a really dangerous lager.

750ml bottle. Pale, spritzy and faintly misty. Vinous w/w aroma suggesting grape, melon and yeasty fruit. A splash of Malheur. Wood and acid. Almost lambic tang, frut acids (apple, grape), but discreet and softened by sweet buttery vanilla cornflake afters like Rodenbach Vin De Cereale. Interesting.

Bottle. Amber beer with a big off-white head. Sweet malt and spice aroma. Malty/fruity flavor with yeast and spice. Medium body. LIngering fruity malt. Doesn’t quite meld. Some herbal tones.

2.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Sweet spice aroma. Huge head, maybe to big if you know what I mean, disappeared very fast. Highly gaseous. Citrus, spicy and hopy not to well balanced. Did not please me at all.
