Bottle. High fluffy white and lasting head. Clear amber body. Acidic dry malt aroma with a bit of caramel. Spicy but relatively weak yet round malt flavor.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20 MesandSim (7108) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 28, 2006
A Mes rate.
33cl bottle from Bottle Stop in Bramhall. Like so many Bavik beers, almost great, it’s just lacking a few important ingredients. Aroma is typical yeasty Belgian. Great amber colour but the consistency and the head let it down a little. Flavour is malty and slightly acidic with a little toffee and some spruce. Palate lets it down once more. It’s kind of thin and prickly. The prickly feel washes away all the best bits leaving a salty finish that doesn’t really do it justice. Not bad but I know this brewer can do much better.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 yespr (20656) - Copenhagen O, DENMARK - DEC 28, 2006
33 cl bottle. Pours orange golden with white head. Fruity and hoppy aroma. Very round taste dominated by caramel and fruit (yeast I assume). Nice "light" winter/Christmas beer.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 bfeldmann (1048) - Wilmington, Delaware, USA - DEC 28, 2006
Yum Yum poured a redish brown with good head and good lacing. Aroma was citru/fruity. Flavor was of fruits, apples maybe, hops were a nice balace to cut the sweetneest down, and end on a bitter note. Not sure how this is a winter expected more spices.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 SledgeJr (3579) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - DEC 27, 2006
In the 330 mL bottle . Pours a purple-amber with a beige head that is big, thick, and long lasting. It leaves little or no lacing, however. The dark cherry aroma is enticing. This beer lacks the richness of a traditional belgian ale. It is semi-sweet with a mild tartness to boot. Has some mild bitterness to the finish. Slightly astringent. Some cherry and chocolate flavors emerge at warming. The palate is a bit fizzy and this becomes more apparent due to the thin body. This is by no means the best beer that Petrus makes, and with that it makes for a lousy christmas gift from the brewer.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 fonefan (23599) - VestJylland, DENMARK - DEC 26, 2006
Bottle @ Kerstbierfestival 2006 in Essen, BE. Dark amber brown color with a average white head. Aroma of caramle, malt, and notes of hops. Flavor is sweet with a light bitternes, acetic and a little sour.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 kitschy (326) - Nebraska, USA - DEC 25, 2006
in bottle. dark color, fizzy palate roughs up the tounge. Aroma is remotely cherry-like, succeeded by a taste rather like a stale cherry cordial. thinner body than it could be; nevertheless the beer is festive.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 thornecb (2962) - Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA - DEC 21, 2006
Pours ruby into a tulip. Explodes when cap is popped. Slight head leaves sticky lacing. Caramel and earth aromas. Sweet honey with slight spritz. Flattens out to a short, dry caramel finish.
