150ml from bottle at Belgobaren in Stockholm. Unclear dark, orange coloured body. Medium white foam. Herbal aroma. Sweet spicy taste with notes of caramel malts and a lemon touch in the ending. Fizzy (03.12.2006).

bottle at the fort wayne tasting - What happened to Santa’s legs on this label? Was he in the war? Legless Santa notwithstanding, this beer pours up dark amber with a big, billowy head. The light aroma is of sweet malts and spices and the taste matches it for the most part. I’m not picking up much else in the flavor. The mouthfeel is very lively and it seems a bit watery.

Bottle. Resilient effervescent froth atop a coppery brown body. Nose is sweet and spicy. Light cocoa, hints of yeast, spices, brown sugar, cocoa and light fruit. Taste is sweet malts, cocoa, dark fruits, spices, brown sugar, and light yeast. Bubbly, prickly carbonation and a light-medium overall feel. Ends with more spices, dusty yeast, cocoa, brown sugar and sweet malts.

UPDATED: SEP 2, 2007 Bottle from Utobeer. Dark amber in colour with faint, off white head. Nose of brown sugar and rum. Taste to match with the addition of salt and vinegar. Finish of sweet red berries. Interesting, but strange. Good, but not great.

The aroma is complex with malt, citrus, raisins, plums, vegetables, and vinegar. The appearance is deep amber (red) with a large foamy head. The flavor is complex like the aroma with the front end being bitter and citrusy and the finish being malty and fruity with a slight but noticeable metallic element. The plate is thin enough to be disappointing as soon as it hits your mouth with only the massive amount of carbonation saving it. This has a real grab bag quality to it. It’s got some good and some bad elements that seem to delight and disappoint all at the same time. None the less this is one of those rare beers that bridge the gap between drinkable and impressive.

11.2 oz bottle with gputty. Hazy amber with a foamy tan head. Sweet, fruity tripel-like nose and flavor, a bit too sweet.
