UPDATED: JAN 15, 2004 Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is dark amber. Aroma is lightly malty (caramel, cookie), with a note of bubble gum. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter, lightly acidic. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Never have gotten much out of this beer, despite many tries.

Very refreshing beer. Not what I would call a winter brew. But good, thirst quenching kind of body.

good, if unassuming, Belgian winter ale. very faint aroma. rather yeasty flavour with some malt sweetness- resulted in a green apple taste. light for a winter brew.

Little yeasty, spicy, apple aroma. Reddish Brown, slighlty cloudy color. Fine head. Soft, slightly bitter yeasty flavor, fairly subtle fruit flavors. Alcohol masked well, warming. Nice carbonation. Some unappealing yeast flavors.

TAR (2346) - Lafayette, Colorado, USA - NOV 14, 2001
UPDATED: JAN 5, 2004 A very deceptive looking brew. Dark amber with a silky head that lasts good while. Aroma of grapes and alcohol. This is not a powerful beer however. Has the typical Petrus character; which I love. Strong fruitiness with some oak with a dry finsih.

Solid good drinking beer but nothing super memorable about it. Heard that this beer was banned in Ohio because the label was a bad influence on kids (or something like that - it has Santa Claus on the label).

Rather understated for a Belgian winter ale. Spices are very mild.
