Bottle (dated 12/09/05) from the Bier Market. Poured a lovely deep walnut brown with a tan head that was tall and strong. Not much lacing to speak of but who knows how clean the glass was... Wonderful roasty aroma hits the nose like a nice mulled wine. Full round mouth feel and just the right mix of spice and roasted coffee. A bit like drinking molassas but far less sticky. Warms the belly with just the faintest hint of an unpleasant aftertaste. I wouldn’t want to have more than two of these at any one time I’m sure. Otherwise thouroughly enjoyable!

Smells a little sour. Looks good. This has a surprising sour flavor to it. A nice sour coat finishes it off as well. Different for a winter ale but pretty good.

This brew poured a medium head of light brown colored fine to medium sized mostly lasting bubbles that left behind a fair lacing and a softyly carbonated hazy brown colored body. The aroma was mild with vinuous notes of malt and caramel. THe mouthfeel was smooth and mild. I really enjoyed the caramel malt flavor of this fine Belgiam Strong. It is indeed a very nice Belgiam that I liked a lot.

Petrus Winterbier – 4.10
The beer pours a translucent deep ruby color with a mastodonic head, creamy in texture and a bright light tan color and the lace forms a tight sealing sheet that smothers the glass. The nose is vanilla sweet, with a thick malt presence, also a bit of over ripe banana noticed, a very pleasing and a bodement of things to come. Front is ambrosial, rich in malt with a middling top, that leads to a strikingly acidic finish, hops are personable in their spicy bite, desert dry aftertaste that lingers long on the palate, a perfect end of the evening beer, and as a beer I salute all “Beer Lovers” where ever you are on this thanksgiving Eve in 2003, hopefully next year at this time we can give thanks for “World Peace”, a dream but it is my wish today.

UPDATED: APR 30, 2006 Very good. Dark, and cloudy, a little sweet. NIce in flavour and spicy. NOt too strong in flavour but in alcohol.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 stubby (335) - Santee, California, USA - JAN 17, 2004
Ultra-super-good. Aromatic beer, with yeasty/dried apricot aroma. Tasty going down, with a dry finish, indicative of generous amounts of boiling hops, not normal for many Belgians. Great stuff, and very high on my list of good things.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Braudog (4473) - Hampton, Virginia, USA - NOV 21, 2007
Bottle: Spewed from my bottle with an airy, foamy head over a bloody red brew. The aroma is vaguely yeasty, but is predominately fruity and sweet. This drinks exquisitely smooth, a very nice evenly made blend of caramel, tart fruit, and a hint of spice. How does this rate so poorly overall? I don’t get it sometimes. This is very, very good.
